Almond Butter

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2011
Well, I'm not sure where to start. Even with the addition of honey, it was too dry. It made my (Cuisinart, not a bad brand) food processor overheat before I could fully process, after about 15 minutes of trying. One serving is 8 grams, about half a tablespoon. The taste is ok, nothing phenomenal. I submitted a couple of pictures so that people could get an idea of the consistency. I will not use this recipe again.

Cajun Appetizer Meatballs

Reviewed: May 27, 2010
Oh, these are good. They are not the best meatballs I've ever had, but very very yummy. I had some cajun seasoning and my fiance really seemed to like it on the chicken, so I decided to search for something with beef and the seasoning. I made a couple of changes because 1. my fiance is allergic to onions and 2. I didn't have any peach preserves. I also didn't have any barbecue sauce, so I ended up making my own, chopping some pineapple slices in the blender, and adding them to the sauce. The flavour is unlike any meatball I've ever had, and we ended up eating way too many. They're pretty addictive!

Ashley's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: May 27, 2010
I made these last night for my fiance, who has never had homemade chocolate chip cookies in his life! I usually use the generic cookie recipe on the back of the chocolate chip bag, but I've just moved to the UK and everything's a little different. He loved them. He couldn't stop eating them. I had to finally take them away when I thought he was going to make himself sick. I am sitting here, eating one of them as I type this, and they are still good, the next day at noon, still very soft. My only complaint is that, even after sifting, they flatten out quite a bit. Next time I will try sifting the flour twice. No matter what, these are definitely the best cookies I've ever had. This is my new cookie recipe.

Basic Pizza Crust

Reviewed: May 3, 2010
This a pretty good crust recipe. It is basic, as the title suggests, so all the "it's bland" comments made me roll my eyes. Unlike other reviewers, I had to use less flour, just about 2 cups. I tested the water with a candy thermometer so that it was perfect for the yeast, mixed the ingredients with my old hand mixer, and added another half cup of flour with my hands. That seemed to be plenty. Then, I let it rest while the oven heated, and plopped it down on my pizza pan, and spread it out with my hands. No need to roll, really. It spread really easily and I had no problem getting the edges a little higher than the rest. I pre-baked as the recipe suggests, added some basic toppings, and finished baking. My aunt loved it. I thought it was a little bready, but nice and crunchy. I will DEFINITELY make this again. If you have problems with it rising, check the temperature of your water. If it's too cold, the yeast won't react. If it's too hot, it will kill the yeast. If it's too bland, add some spices. If it's too sticky, I'm not sure what you've done, because this was one of the least sticky, easy to handle doughs I've ever used. Hope this helps.

Autumn Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2010
Well, it's the end of April, but I thought I'd make these anyway since I had a bunch of dried fruit to use up. I used only dried fruit: cranberries, apples, apricots, and figs. I also didn't add any nuts. They were pretty good, a little sweet, even for me, but nice and fruity any time of year, and the texture is absolutely perfect (possibly because I sifted the flour.) I will make these again.

Soy Milk Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2010
I was looking for something different and had soy milk in the fridge. These are really yummy. I used regular soy milk, because it was all I had. The pancakes were nutty, a perfect contrast to my favourite cinnamon cream syrup. (I have no dairy issues, just like the taste of soy milk.)

One Bowl Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2010
This is a good, quick brownie recipe. I completely blew my diet with these tonight! I had no vanilla so I omitted it. I didn't use nuts either and I added a teaspoon of instant coffee granules (personal preference). I lined the pan with foil and greased the foil. I still had some trouble getting the brownies out, but they were nice and fudgy. I don't know if it was just my oven, but I recommend baking them for five minutes less, as the edges were too hard, which always happens when i make brownies.

Blue Ribbon Overnight Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2010
I made these rolls for Easter. They were definitely some of the easiest rolls I've made, and they rose very quickly. I'm giving them four stars because everyone in my family liked them, but I thought they smelled and tasted sour. Maybe it's just me.

Cinnamon Cream Syrup

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2010
This was really good. I made it for the fluffy French toast recipe on this site and the combination was almost (but not quite) too sweet for me. I have some left over and am going to try it in my coffee.

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2010
This is very tasty. Only my last piece of bread turned out fluffy because I let it soak while the others were cooking, so that's the key, let it soak for a few seconds. All the toast tasted nice, even the ones that were flat like regular French toast. I will be using this recipe to introduce French toast to my English/French fiance, because he's never had it and I think this one is perfect, not too eggy. Also, I added lots of cinnamon!

Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2010
These are delicious. I didn't roll and cut them. I just punched the dough down after the first rise and tore off big pieces, rolled into a ball, and flattened into a circle. They fried up a little dark (and looked like rolls) but tasted delicious. My aunt and I were glad we were the only ones home so we didn't have to share!

Cappuccino Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2009
I loved these brownies. Since some of the reviews said they came out dry, I only used 1/3 cup of flour (for 12 servings) which equals half of what the recipe calls for. They turned out very similar to the consistency of flourless cake. I plan on making these again this week!
