Quinoa Side Dish

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2014
I used this recipe to experience quinoa for the first time and I LOVED IT! It has a great comforting flavor, but light at the same time. I did saute half an onion first and then added the quinoa and garlic to toast. Used chicken bouillon and water for my broth, fresh thyme, and no parsley because that is just what I had on hand. This is a fabulous recipe that is going into my recipe box for future uses.

Chef John's Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2013
I'm kind of in the middle with this recipe. I just thought it was okay, but my husband really liked them and my kids, well 2 out of 4 ate theirs. I think that I like the Stuffed Green Peppers I better from this site, but I think that next time I will combine some aspects of this recipe, such as the sausage, ground beef, and parmesan with the other stated recipe. I was expecting the sauce to be amazing due to reviews, but really I like using the tomato soup better and it is less work.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2013
K PRAPER's statement of bakery rolls hooked me and I decided to try it out instead of using my grandmother's potato roll recipe (which is a little bit more work). These really do taste and look like they came from a bakery! No bread machine used, just my mixer, and I doubled the recipe. Fabulous, fabulous roll recipe!

French Crepes

Reviewed: May 29, 2013
My husband and kids love crepes and we have tried many different recipes from scratch to prepackaged mixes. These were perfect. I am not a great crepe maker, so melanie's tip about pouring your batter on the outside of the pan and then rolling and tipping instead of the middle worked wonders for me to create that thin crepe. This will be my go to crepe recipe now.

Oven-Roasted Asparagus

I love asparagus. My husband, not so much. This is my new favorite way to prepare asparagus and my husband even enjoyed it. Fabulous recipe!

Rhubarb Berry Jam

Reviewed: May 4, 2010
I was so skeptical of this recipe when I found it here, but there were not a lot of options for rhubarb jam that didn't require strawberries or oranges and I was in desperate need of using up all the rhubarb overflowing in my kitchen, plus I happened to have all the ingredients on hand. It has been in my freezer for a few months now and each time I would pass it by and opt for our raspberry jam, but today I decided to try it. When I opened the jar, it still didn't look too appetizing, but looks can be deceiving. I thought this jam tasted great! It is sweet with a tiny hint of tartness. I will be keeping this treasure in my recipe box for the next rhubarb season.

Broccoli Chicken Roli

Reviewed: May 4, 2010
I don't really like the taste of cooked mayo so I used cream cheese instead (did use a TB of mayo to thin a bit). I also didn't use the green peppers and opted for garlic powder in place of minced garlic. On accident I forgot to include the Cheddar cheese, but it didn't really need it because I was using cream cheese. This turned out really pretty and my husband and I both thought it was good. Even my boys (7 & 5) ate this. This really would make a great appetizer as it has great presentation qualities and serves many people.

Rick's Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: May 4, 2010
I used half butter, half shortening and followed the tips of JOSELYN. This is a delicious frosting with a great consistency. I would rate this 5 stars if it didn't have to be refrigerated, but when I have room in my fridge for a cake this will be my number 1 frosting choice!

Stuffed Green Peppers I

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2010
I will usually take others advice and change the recipe based on their reviews, but I just didn't feel like jotting anymore info down at the time, so I made the recipe as is. I thought these were okay, but I don't really like peppers, but my husband thought they were great and requested them for a repeat meal. We both thought that they could use more seasoning and as for our kids, they didn't touch the stuff, but then they like R. noodles :0

Tiny Chicken Turnovers

Reviewed: May 3, 2009
This recipe tastes similar to another on this site that is a whole lot easier to prepare! It was good, but I would rather prepare the one using the packaged crescent rolls.

Best Ever Caramel Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2009
I changed a lot of items in this recipe, so I don't know how fair of a rating this really is. First, I had previously frozen pie filling from the summer that I used and I did just use a jar of the caramel topping. I followed others' advice and added the caramel first and then the crumble topping (which is fantastic). I was able to fit this in the dish called for although others recommended a larger one. My husband and I really loved this dish and still ate the leftovers even though the topping had gotten quite soggy.

Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2009
A recipe you really should try. The chicken turned out much more tender than I had anticipated and it was great to use the leftovers in other meals.

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
I really enjoyed this recipe and my husband thought it was just okay. I liked that it is real simple ingredients and easy to put together. I did follow others advice about putting foil on the top, but I removed it about half way through so the skin could crisp up.

Frogmore Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2009
I have been wanting to try a recipe like this for years and decided now was the time, but boy was I disappointed! I followed the recipe only adding in some crab legs. I thought it lacked in flavor and was a big waste of food.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2009
I thought this recipe was simple and delicious. I didn't have the beer and it still came out great. I did take others advice and thinly sliced the meat 30 minutes before serving and added it back to the juices. I think that is a must. I also added around tsp. of au jus seasoning that I happened to have on hand. A few days later I thickened the leftovers up with some sour cream and a little bit of flour and served over egg noodles. Great and simple recipe!

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2008
I have to say my husband, who is not the tomato lover, really enjoyed these. Myself, the actual tomato lover, didn't really like them. I think it was more of the balsamic vinegar that I didn't enjoy in this recipe.
