About this Cook
I'm a Licensed Massage Therapist. I love organic food, and I am trying to cook healthier meals for my boyfriend and I. I love to bake and cook, and I've been taking charge in the kitchen since I was 10 years old. I'm born and raised in the Mid-West, but lived in the South-East for a number of years, so my cooking reflects a little of there too.
My favorite things to cook
I adore all baking, especially muffins, pies, and cheesecakes...I'm learning to love Puerto Rican/Latin food,as my husband is from Puerto Rico, and I recently fell in love with plantains (they're so versatile!!).
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family has always made comfort foods: pastas, and heavy, hearty, filling meals and sweets. My mom is well-known for her homemade pancakes, apple crisp, sour cream sugar cookies. My grandma has her beloved chili, egg-salad, strawberry layer dessert, and buttery rolls.

Beef Pot Roast
Absolutely awesome! I even made it using a cheap roast, and it turned out soo tender and flavorful. I would make it again in a heartbeat :)

Cheddar Pear Pie
It was a great foundational recipe, and I would make it again. I had less pears than required, so I threw in an apple. I also used sharp cheddar, though it was *not* very evident in the taste of the pie. It has a great fruit pie flavor, and I think next time I would add chopped walnuts to the crumble topping for nice compliment.

Really Basic Peanut Butter Cookies
Awesome and as easy as promised :) I did reduce the brown sugar to 1/2 C, and added 1/2 C of oats per other reviewers' suggestions. I would make them again in a heartbeat, and they are a perfect way to satisfy my late-afternoon sweet craving!
