Cream Cheese Pound Cake III

Amazing! My family does not usually eat cake, this was gone in minutes! The only changes I made were because I did not have full amount of butter. Sub'd 1/4c heavy whipping cream (vs. 1/4c. butter) and just to see what would happen, used the microplane grater & grated 1/2 of a whole nutmeg seed. I used reduced fat cream cheese because that was all I had, but it was amazing. Will make again, and again!

Orange Chicken Stir Fry

Great! For a healthy orange chicken this rocked! No bottled sauce mixtures needed. I added tablespoon of Penzey's orange peel (likes dried zest). After I put the sauce in the pan with chicken I added chopped baby carrots & snow peas then put lid on. After about 5 mins the sauce had thickened slightly and the veggies were crisp tender. Served it all over jasmine rice & sprinkle with chopped scallion & sesame seeds. Will make this again!!

Country Apple Dumplings

This is an awesome apple dumpling short cut!! I usually make my mom's recipe with pie crust dough, whole apples, etc. But this is amazing.

Buttermilk Strawberry Shortcake

perfect biscuit recipe....makes them light & airy. don't work the dough too much, drop biscuits are great. the strawberry mash is perfect. loved it all. i didn't use cream to top all of the biscuits, they tasted the same to me either way.

Mad Hatter Salad

Awesome recipe, tasted great! I made some changes with my 2nd batch to make it a bit healthier and it still tastes wonderful. *no butter, olive oil only. I added a small amt to skillet and probably 1/4c for the dressing base. *1 pkg of ramen with 1 seasoning pack. *2 tablespoons of white sugar. *reduced sodium soy sauce. From there I just eye-balled the dressing amount, added a few tablespoons of water to stretch it (taste as you go). I used slivered almonds because that's all I had and added some black poppy seeds at the end. I mix it the day before (all of it) and think it tastes best after setting a day. I think next time I'm going to add raisins!

Italian Anisette Cookies

I followed the recipe exactly (looks like the previous typo was corrected to 1 tablespoon baking powder, which I followed)....but was slightly disappointed. The anise flavor is absent from the cookie (I left some without frosinting because my son does not like frosting). The only anise flavor comes from the icing. However, the texture is nice; not too dry, just soft & slightly cakey. I think next time I'll just make using almond or lemon.
