Potato Latkes I

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2013
This was my first attempt at making a homemade latke. The batter seemed excessively eggy and the end result was very, very salty. I added more shredded potato as I was frying them to try to combat it but it couldn't counteract all the salt. I think it would be a perfect recipe if the salt was cut by 2/3 and the egg by 1/2. I usually sneer at reviewers for suggesting changes (ie come up with your own recipe if you know so much--ha ha!) and try to stick to the original recipe, but this time I really wish I'd read the other reviews and cut down on the egg and salt. Who knew!

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2011
Nom nom nom! This recipe was crazy good and so easy it was ridiculous. The only thing we did slightly differently was coat the pork in salt, pepper, and garlic salt. The pork was so moist and flavorful, even before mixing my sammie with a little Sweet Baby Ray's honey bbq sauce. Delish! Thanks, Sarge---this is a total keeper!

Souvlaki

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2010
My hubs and I both really enjoyed the marinade. I marinaded boneless chicken in it, which we grilled and ate with a simple Greek salad. Yes, I'm not sure if soy sauce is too Greek, but whatever, it was a great marinade regardless--best one I've tried yet from a bottle or this site. I may cut down on the soy just a bit next time to see how it tastes. But it's great the way it is!

Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2010
Wow, I really wanted to like this more. After reading the rave reviews, I was a little disappointed. I marinated it for six hours as suggested, but I just found it very bland. A much easier marinade I do is Italian dressing and soy, and honestly, for having to go to the trouble to concoct this mixture, it was not any better. Just okay. FYI, there is a steak tip marinade on this site by Domenici that is outstanding. I think I'll stick to that next time.

Steak Tip Marinade

Reviewed: May 16, 2010
Excellent! My hubs and I have been making and eating steak tips for years, and this is absolutely right up there with the best marinades we've tried. I believe Domenici when he says it took many experiments for this one. Thanks for sharing!

Shrimp and Feta Cheese Pasta

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2009
Thank you for this fantastic recipe. It was quick and easy to put together, and just so good. I threw in some canned artichokes and sliced olives I had, and since I didn't have fresh tomato on hand, I used canned diced tomato, so obviously I did take some liberty with the recipe. Since I'm trying to watch my weight, I used only 3.5 oz of reduced fat feta and found it was plenty, and served it over whole wheat angel hair. Totally delicious. The recipe is such an awesome base, I think it would have been so great as is but is easy to add to as well.

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2008
YUM!!!!!!!! This is as good or better than any spin/artichoke dip I've ever had....it got the thumbs up from everyone who ate it. You can't go wrong with this dip. I did omit the basil bc I'm not a fan of it personally, and like other posters mentioned, putting the cheese on top makes it a little harder to dig your chip in, but mmmmmm, so good!! This is definitely a keeper--thanks!

Greek Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2008
My husband and I liked this dish. I think it's a good recipe, but if I were to make it again, I would prefer more tomato, and probably less parsley and a bit less oregano maybe? Something was slightly off which is making me hold back on giving it 5 stars. We did serve it with whole wheat angel hair which paired nicely with it.

Fra Diavolo Sauce With Pasta

WOW. I don't know what else to say, except amazing. My husband and I both loved it, and would put it right up there with a fantastic Italian restaurant. Delish! Thanks for the fantastic recipe!

Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
I like them very much. Easy to make. I did add some extra milk bc the batter was sooo thick. I feel like although they are very good, that there might be something small missing?? All in all though, quick and easy to make and a great treat! ***Update, I followed another reviewers suggestion and added a splash of vanilla and this time, I used canola oil instead of veg oil, and I swear, they were that much better. Awesome!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2008
I don't know who Mrs. Sigg is, but she's a genius! These cookies were YUMMY! I had a ball making them with my son. The only problem is, I can't stop eating them bc they are THAT good. I did not have any shortening so I used all butter (oink) and had no problems. I also had to cook them longer than 8 mins but I might have made them too big. Again, oink! Not sure if I should love Mrs. Sigg, or hate Mrs. Sigg for this recipe, lol!

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2008
This was dish delish! I am not the best cook by any means, but you'd never know eating this dish I made with this great recipe. My Italian husband said he would put it right up there with a great Italian restaurant marsala. The only things I did differently was I put some parsley in the flour mixture rather than oregano bc I don't care for oregano, and after I initially cooked the chicken, I took it out of the pan so I could fry the mushrooms a bit alone and then I added the chicken back in. I also did not have sherry so I upped the marsala to 3/4 of a cup. I served it over angel hair. THE BEST!

Easy Bacon and Cheese Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
This is the first quiche recipe I ever attempted and it was so easy and delish, that I have made it several times since. I am not exactly a "natural" in the kitchen but in all honesty, this is probably one of the best quiches I've ever had so it's clearly the recipe dimensions!!! Go DawnRobyn! I do use real bacon (about 5 slices of the precooked, which I just throw in the microwave), and I also add in a handful or so of chopped frozen spinach which I think adds to it. I have used Swiss cheese as well instead of Parm and it's been excellent. I pretty much use whatever cheese I have on hand. You cannot go wrong if you use this quiche recipe as your base. It's fantastic!
