My favorite things to cook
I love using the freshest ingredients I can find, I think it makes a world of difference. I use tons of fresh herbs in my cooking, I love to grill and I make a mean orange pound cake.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We never, ever cook a steak on anything other than a grill. My family has been known to grill in the rain, sleet or snow. Sounds like the US Mail mantra!
My cooking triumphs
Catering my nieces wedding for 300. We were exhausted but people are still talking about that meal five years later!
My cooking tragedies
It took me three years ( and lots of sad sunken pound cakes) to make just the perfect one. My family says it was worth the wait. My father-in-law is glad he doesn;t have to eat sunken pound cakes anymore.

Applesauce Bars
I make this recipe every week. My entire family loves them and I always have some on hand in the freezer. I have added to the health benifits by using whole wheat flour, dropping the sugar to 1/2 cup (I use raw sugar) and I don't do the frosting because the bar just doesn't need it. Even if you make the recipe as is you are only talking 2 Weight Watchers points. I do find a 9X13 creates a thinner bar so I do a square pan to make them a bit thicker. It does reduce your portions so WW folks need to factor that in.

Randy's Texas Tea
I love this recipe and have used it over and over for large summer parties. A couple of things. This tea is only as good as the ingredients you put in it. You must use good quality (not from concentrate) orange juice and real lemon juice, you cannot omit the salt and make sure the glasses are full of ice when you serve. You will be rewarded with a party tea worth serving again and again.

Fresh Ginger Cookies
My family loves this recipe. I use 3-4tbs of ginger. It helps that you can find fresh grated ginger in a jar now in most produce sections. Yum!
