Kashmiri Lamb

My husband kept raving about how delicious this meal was. He insisted on having lamb for Easter dinner, and since I'm not a big lamb fan, I decided on a recipe where the lamb flavor wouldn't be overly obvious. I'll probably make this every Easter now. I used serrano peppers as jwala peppers aren't sold here, and I substituted safflower for saffron, because of the cost. Also, my blender wouldn't cooperate in creating the paste of step 1, so I had to add a little oil for the blender to form the paste. Made as written otherwise. Yummy recipe.

Banana Cream Pie I

The best banana cream pie ever! I made the pudding exactly as directed, and it is thick and delicious (the trick it to make sure you boil it long enough). I never cook the pudding though, and I always add homemade whipped cream on top. To make the whipped cream, I beat about 3/4 cup whipping cream with 1tsp sugar and 1/2tsp vanilla. You won't regret this pie!

Excellent Broccoli Cheese Soup

Roasted Cajun Potatoes

I make this all the time and LOVE it! The spices are just perfect. The changes I make are: omit the shallots, use garlic powder instead of minced garlic, and I probably use less potatoes (I don't measure). Other than that, the recipe is to die for.

Oreo® Cookie Cake

Absolutely delicious! The only change I made was to use real whipped cream instead of cool whip. To make the whipped cream, use 3 cups of whipping cream (this will make about 6 cups of whipped cream, corresponding to 16 oz cool whip) with a tsp of vanilla and a few tsp of sugar mixed in. Also, I used the full amount of cream cheese listed in the recipe. I definitely recommend using the entire 2 pkgs of cream cheese. It's not tangy at all, and I think the recipe would be lacking without the cream cheese. I used vanilla pudding, but I'm sure chocolate would also taste good. Highly recommend this dessert, even though it's not healthy!

Waffles I

I made the recipe exactly as stated, and it just wasn't very good. The mixes I have taste better (and I'm not even a fan of mixes). I think part of the problem is that waffles taste better when you use butter. Vegetable oil just doesn't taste as good.

Pumpkin Bars I

Absolutely delicious! I didn't expect it to taste so good because I am not a big fan of pumpkin. I used a little bit more spice than the recipe says (2 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 1/3 tsp ginger) and added cream cheese frosting. It tastes more like a moist spice cake and it is to die for!

Peppered Shrimp Alfredo

This was very very tasty and had a good spice to it. I didn't have shrimp, so I used chicken, and I substituted carrots for mushrooms. Also, for the amount of sauce the recipe makes, my family needed close to 16 oz of pasta, as opposed to the 8 oz listed. We will definitely be making this again! The cayenne pepper gave it a mild kick, that wasn't overpowering.

Hmm, Well these were healthy, but definitely not particularly tasty. I suppose if you are counting calories, you can go for these. If you are looking for flavor, try a different recipe.

Scalloped Potatoes II

I tried this recipe because I was out of cream, but wanted scalloped potatoes. I have now learned my lesson- this was just gross. Once you've had scalloped potatoes made with cream and cheese, nothing else can compare.

Pizza Pasta

It was good given my goals in making the dish: I wanted something VERY easy to make because I was pressed for time, and I wanted a variation on my simple and typical spaghetti with spaghetti sauce dinner. I think there is a reason that most people reviewing this recipe seem to mention that their kids will eat it. It's a simple, easy, non-special recipe that tastes pretty good; not something you would serve to impress. I added crushed red pepper flakes and italian seasoning to give it extra flavor, and thought it was tasty. I'm sure I'll make it again at some point when I am feeling lazy in the kitchen :-)

Glazed Apple Cream Pie

When I started making this, I never imagined it would taste so good. I absolutely loved it and won't make traditional apple pie again, when I can make this instead. I followed the recipe exactly, except I used 3 apples. I think you can even get away with 4 apples to make it a little healthier. Highly recommended.

Firecracker Grilled Alaska Salmon

This is easily the best recipe on this site.. I thought it was the most delicious fish I've ever tasted. I didn't have any onions so I omitted them, and I also just used whatever kind of oil I had, and it is still AMAZING! The sauce is so good, that I would recommend making twice the amount of sauce, and, as another reviewer recommended, cooking the fish and all the marinade/sauce in a glass pan, so that no sauce gets wasted! You won't be disappointed.

Mango Lassi II

This was so delicious! I am so happy I can now make mango lassi myself and avoid paying $5 per glass at Indian restaurants. Note that the yogurt amount needs to be adjusted based on the size and ripeness of the mangoes. For larger mangoes, fresh off a tree (like my family has in Miami), 2 cups yogurt is perfect. However for store-bought mangoes, I would use 1/4 to 1/2 cup less yogurt. Even when store-bought mangoes ripen on the counter for a week after you buy them, they will still never have the flavor of mangoes picked when they're ripe on the tree. This recipe is simple and amazingly delicious!
