Naan

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2011
I used self-rising flour so I significantly reduced the salt. I also "proofed" the yeast. Because I used all the amount of flour listed in the recipe, I had to add a little more water and milk. I don't have a grill and using the oven would have taken too long for the amount of Naan dough I ended up with (4 1/2 cups makes way more than 14 pieces!!!), so I fried them in a pan of vegetable oil until golden and then lightly sprinkled them with salt. DELICIOUS. Everyone loved the Naan. The children came back for seconds, possibly thirds, and kept reminding me to make sure their Mom got the recipe. My husband ate 5 of them, on top of the basmati rice and chicken curry, which is a new record for him! There were no left overs. I will definitely make this again! Super easy, even for someone who doesn't bake and has no idea what they're doing (that's me)!

I really liked this! It had a wonderfully rich taste to it. First time I've made a really tasty brown rice.

Garlic Mashed Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2008
All I had was instant potatoes, so I used those instead of the red potatoes. Otherwise I followed the recipe. I thought it was ok (it would have tasted better with "real" potatoes... oh well), but my husband loved them. He's never liked any "doctored" mashed potatoes I've made before. Therefore, I give this recipe 5 stars! I'll definitely make this again!

Spaghetti Pie II

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
This was delicious! I don't like cottage cheese so I used crumbled Feta instead. I also excluded the sugar and oregano because the diced tomato and paste that I bought had flavorings already. (Basil, Oregano, Garlic, Italian Seasonings.) This is the first recipe that turned out right the first time I cooked it. Super easy! I LOVE IT!

Baby Spinach Omelet

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2008
I added an egg white to this because the spinach seemed to overpower the egg while I was mixing it. This was my first successful omelet, which earned this recipe an extra star. I'm not a fan of spinach+egg, but this is still pretty good. I can understand why people like it so much.

Orzo with Parmesan and Basil

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2008
I only had dried parsley, worked fine. I don't think I sauteed the garlic long enough though. Still tasted good! Definitely recommend this!

A Good Easy Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2008
I put the seasoning mixture on the chicken prior to cooking it. After it was nicely browned I added 1 cup of chicken broth. Tasted good. I'd have given it a 5 if it had mentioned adding water or broth to prevent burning...

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2008
I thought this tasted 4 star, my husband 5 star. It's very easy to make. I cooked my chicken almost all the way through before putting it in the pot. I cooked my onions and carrots with some garlic and ginger as well as the butter. I had no celery. I was short on chicken broth, so I had to use chicken bullion cubes. They worked as a nice substitute. Don't skimp on the chicken broth, cause that will make a difference in how the soup tastes.

All-Star Veggie Burger

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2008
This is good, but takes some elbow grease. Trying to mash those beans took what seemed like ages, and the tofu was not too forth coming with it's liquid either. However, once that was out of the way it was surprisingly simple. I added cumin (as suggested) and used dried basil (no fresh available). Also, I had no oat bran, so I used wheat germ. Tasted just fine. If you aren't sure whether the mixture is will hold it's patty shape when cooking here's a tip: simply make a huge ball out of it before making patties. If it retains the ball shape without lots of crumbs and cracks, it'll do fine. But if it won't retain the shape, add an egg or maybe more liquid. That's how I figured out if it would stay together in the pan. Hope that helps!

Easy Alfredo Sauce I

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2008
This is a really tasty alfredo sauce and very easy to make. I recommend it for first time sauce makers. :) Were I live heavy cream is not available (shocking I know!) so I had to substitute with evaporated milk. Also, it seemed thin to me so I added some corn starch to thicken it... Well, opps, added too much! It was way thicker than it needed to be. Not the recipes fault. :P Will make again!

Mediterranean Lemon Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2008
Wow! It tastes good! I don't make things often that taste good (I'm notorious for messing recipes up). The chicken came out really tender with a light pleasant flavor to it. I used 3 skinless chicken breasts, halved. I covered the dish in aluminum foil on 400d for 20 min. Also, I halved the oregano. I ended up using almost all the zest on my lemon and most of the juice! I also added a bit more oil since it didn't look like there was enough for my chicken when I finished. I know people say it's too lemony, but I wonder if that's because they marinate it? I didn't marinate mine (didn't have the time) and the lemon flavor turned out very mild.
