Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2003
WOW. Honestly, I didn't know my breadmaker could MAKE bread like this. I don't have a "light crust" option on my machine, but the crust was still crispy without being hard. The bread itself...well, it just came out and it's almost gone. My two-year-old said, "Mmmmm, good bread, Mama!" If that's not an endorsement, I don't know what is! One note - my jar of yeast said to use 1/2 tsp per cup of flour. Next time I'll use two teaspoons instead of 1.5 - but it's still exceptional! No more mixes for me!!

Sue's Hot Fudge Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2002
I thought this was pretty good. My husband thought it wasn't "fudgy enough", but he couldn't pinpoint what was wrong. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't thicker while still warm - it only seemed to get nice and thick as it got cool.

Fluffy Canadian Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2002
Blech. This was like eating congealed scrambled eggs. I won't make this again, but if I had to, I'd definitely cut out most of the egg yolk and add some sugar. In the pancakes' defense, my husband said they were "not all that bad" - not exactly a resounding endorsement.

Pepperoni Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2002
HOT DOG, this was GOOD! My husband, who usually says everything is "fine" actually called this "outstanding"! I thought this was very, very good. Next time I will put sauce in it, just to see how it turns out. Yummy, yummy, yummy!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2002
Comments heard: "That's the best pie I've ever had." and "I've never seen such a pretty pie!" I used fresh York apples, sliced very thinly. They were perfect, and I did not experience too much juice like some reviewers have. I must confess that I didn't get to taste any, since it went so fast. People marveled, and I'm now seen as a good baker! Thanks for this recipe!

Best White Icing Ever

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2002
I'm about to gain 20 pounds. I sort of wish I'd gone my whole life not knowing I could make this icing from stuff I already have in my kitchen! It tastes absolutely exactly the same as the icing on the cakes from the grocery store bakery! I'm in love! I did sub half butter, at the suggestion of several other reviewers. It's not bright white, but I'm not picky about that.

Crab Bisque

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2002
Oh my goodness, so good! I did add some cayenne to give it a zip. It's a wonderful blend of surprisingly complementary flavors. I can't wait to make it for guests!
