White Almond Wedding Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2013
Wonderful cake recipe! Loved the texture- dense but very moist and tender. Came out of the pans like a dream and held up well to stacking for a triple layer cake. I'll never use any other recipe for white cake!

Whole Wheat Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2012
These are great pancakes! I made minimal adjustments by doing the oatmeal instead of wheat germ (I ground the oatmeal with a magic bullet) and I did canola oil and applesauce instead of the butter. I also did milk and vinegar instead of buttermilk. Like others mentioned the batter is way too thin and runny if you use all of the buttermilk. I added slowly and did not finish the 2.5 cups and still had my batter too thin so I had to add more wheat flour just to bring it close to normal thickness. Next time (and there will be a next time for these) I will be even more conservative with the buttermilk addition. But overall these have a good flavor and are very moist!

Meatball Nirvana

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2011
We loved this recipe! I made it as written and used the meatballs for subs. But we ate them as leftovers with pasta and of course still loved them. I have a meatloaf recipe that uses milk so I had no hesitation to use it here. The milk makes them very moist and you don't need the egg to hold it all together. Great combo of flavors!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
My new favorite cookie icing recipe! I grew up using my mom's powdered sugar, milk, and almond version. But I much prefer the shine and hard coating of this recipe. Makes them easier to stack and store.

Indian Tandoori Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2010
We loved this recipe! I was unable to find garam masala locally and used a recipe from this site to make it. My picky husband was pretty sure he'd hate this being that it had marinated overnight in yogurt and seasonings. But we BOTH thought it was wonderful! I used chicken breasts with rib bones and grilled after marinating overnight.

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2010
This is a great recipe. The point is that it's FAST and you don't need to let it rise. I found it to be easy and have good flavor. It did add a random amount of garlic powder to the dough but that was my only adjustment. It made a nice thick bready crust, which is how my family likes pizza. It rises in the oven and we'll be using this recipe frequently!

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: May 29, 2010
This frosting tastes so good! And it was easy. Seems almost fool proof. I did the recommended 6 ounces of cream and the consistency is perfect. Used 1.5 cups shortening and 1/2 cup butter as recommended by others. I think next time I will try splitting the shortening/butter ratio to half and half. But no complaints as is. Used real vanilla so it's not pure white but I just cook for our family so I don't care.

Sweet and Salty Caramel Apples

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2009
I normally love salty sweet combo's but this one didn't do it for me. I found the tart/salty/sweet combo to be strange in this case.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2009
I will be making this again and again! Easy to prepare and was ready exactly at 30 minutes so no guessing and adding extra time. It's nice and sweet, just the way southerners like any corn item. Held together well and didn't crumble. I couldn't stop cutting out little pieces while the steaks were on the grill.

French Toast Souffle

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2008
Great flavor. We didn't care for the bread pudding texture for breakfast, but would be an excellent dessert with the right sauce on it. Used sour dough french bread and loved that the cream cheese melted in so that my picky husband didn't notice it.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
Really good meatloaf. I used Ritz crackers and replaced the ketchup with BBQ sauce because I hate ketchup. Also didn't add the glaze to the top until the last 30 minutes.

Golden Rum Cake

This cake is amazing! I used pecans instead of walnuts and milk instead of the water. Bacardi Gold for the rum. Wonderful recipe I will be using over and over!

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2008
This is a great alfredo sauce. I used real garlic, half the recommended amount of butter, and shredded refridgerated parmesan (not the fake stuff). It's the perfect consistency for me. Thick and creamy. Wonderful!

Whit's Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
I LOVE this recipe! It's amazing. Although I make my chicken in the crock pot with a jar of salsa and packet of taco seasoning for 6 hours. But the rest of the ingredients and instructions make this recipe one to use over and over again. Heats up well the next day too!
