About this Cook
I'm a 25 year old female. My first language is French, and I also speak a little bit of Spanish. I like to watch movies of any kind. I like to watch sitcoms and comedy dramas. Old comedies are the best! I like to listen to oldies, rock and roll and Celtic music. I also like to read pretty much any books that I can get my hands on, and I adore surfing the net. I'm currently studying to become a medical secretary, while working as a technical support associate for a telecommunication company.
My favorite things to cook
I mostly like to cook desserts. I have a bit of sweet tooth, and I just enjoy seeing pastries slowly rise up in the oven, or getting that golden brown hue on top of them. I like to try new recipes that seem like they are gourmet, but are really simple to do. I like to try new recipes, period!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have a lot of recipes that, when I mention them to my friends or acquaintances, nobody seems to know. Example of these would be: - Reversed Pie (main ingredients: ground beef, tomato soup) - Lengthen Sauce (m.i.: ground beef) - Penne Pasta with different kinds of meat (m.i.: either chicken or beef, peppers of all colors, penne pasta, any kind of canned cream soup) - Mock Sukiyaki (m.i.: sirloin steak, peppers, mushrooms)
My cooking triumphs
- My very first pie was an apple pie (which I took the recipe right here!), and it was a real success! It was my first time making a crust out of scratch. - My first meringue lemon pie. - Orange Beef And Broccoli. - Creamy Penne Pasta recipes - Pumpkin muffins
My cooking tragedies
I can't make a decent Banana Cream Pie.. I only tried once, but I messed so bad, I won't try it for at least another year! :P

Classic Rice Pilaf
I can never cook long grain rice without it sticking at the bottom of the pot, even if I'm very careful not to put the heat too high. This recipe makes very delicious rice, that's cooked to perfection. Very easy, very tasty, with a touch of pizazz! Made it a few times, and will certainly keep on doing it!

Wild Rice Soup I
I made this recipe 3 times already, and I don't tire of it! The first time I made it, I followed the indications to the letter. I found that there is too much margarine/butter used for the amount of vegetables. 2 table spoons at most would be fine, or even substitute with olive oil. And I thought that there wasn't enough broth. So adding a cup or two of broth would also help. Thus the 4 stars instead of 5. But if I could, I'd give 4.5 stars. ;) The 2nd time I made it, I added chicken to the soup, and found that it brings a good soup to a great level. But I thought it was still missing something. So the 3rd time I made it, I added mushrooms. From great to awesome it is!

Mulligatawny Soup I
I followed the recipe exactly how it was written, except that I forgot to add the cream when it was time to serve! It was delicious without it, though, so I can't wait to try with it. The only thing that didn't work out to my taste was that the soup was thicker than I expected, there wasn't enough broth to my taste. That being said, maybe adding the cream helps a bit, I don't know. But I will definitely remake this soup in the near future, and try doubling the quantity of broth.
