Penne Pasta with Spinach and Bacon

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
Im giving the recipe 4 stars as wrote but with a few minor changes it's easily a 5 star recipe! I add onion with the garlic and I also add Italian seasoning and then I add the spinch to the bacon and tomatoes to wilt it that way. We like to add a bit of parmesan cheese to the top. You can serve this as a meal or as a side dish. And it goes well with Chicken, fish, pork, and beef!

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2012
OMG!!! We LOVED LOVED LOVED these brownies. The batter is very very dry I had to add extra oil because I had shredded a bunch of zucchini and waited awhile to use it all up so it was too dry for the recipe but next time I will shred it while making the brownies.

Chicken and Sweet Potato Bake

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2012
I made this last night for dinner it turned out pretty good. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the chicken was a bit dry. I did take the advice of the reviewers and raised the temp to 375 and if not the potatoes would not have been cooked. I will make this again because my girls loved it!!

Beef Tips and Noodles

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2012
I'm only giving this a 4 star rating as writen but with the changes suggested by a ton of reviewers it's an easy 5 star!! First thing I did was use a slow cooker becuase it was easier for me. Next I used angus beef eye of round steaks ( 2 1/2 lbs) and cut them into cubes. I also upped the soup to 2 cans and 1 can (not cup) of milk in place of the water. I did use the whole envelope of onion soup mix but I also added a few rings of and fresh onion (to cut down on saltyness) I also about a hour before it was done cooking I added a envelope of brown gravy mix I wanted to use mushroom gravy but didn't have any on hand. I served it over egg noodle or rice and a biscut on the side. I will make this again

Breakfast Pizza

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2012
I asked my 3 year old what she wanted for breakfast and she said Pizza so I looked and found this recipe and had pretty much everything on hand. I used the sheet crescent roll, Jimmy dean turkey sausage crumbles, colby jack cheese and I ended up using 5 eggs and less milk. I think it depends on the size of eggs you use. I left out the hashbrowns because the kids don't care for hashbrowns. Both of my little girls loved their pizza with eggs

Chicken and Gnocchi Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
This soup is amazing! I pretty much followed the recipe as written. The few changes I made is I cooked my chicken in the pan with the veggies and I didn't use the cornstarch and cold water as I didn't want the soup super thick I thought it was just right amount of creamy soup consistency. I also doubled the broth, cream , and gnocchi but left everything as is. I will make this again and again! We loved it. Oh a few suggestions top with cheese such as parmesan or mozzerella and serve with crusty bread!

Ham and Cheese Crescent Roll-Ups

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2011
Im giving these 3 stars because the cheese melted out and all over the cookie sheet, the edges of the ham started to burn also! I have now made these a few times and figured out a few tips, first use the sheet of crescent dough roll it works much better and just roll it up (looks like a huge stromboli). Second you can use swiss, American, provolone, or pepper Jack cheese! I have also changed it up and used Turkey and bacon or peperoni and crumbled sausage. We tried the ham with mustard and we didn't care for it. We dip the peperoni ones in pizza sauce. The last time I made these I made an egg wash and brushed the tops with that and sprinkled parsley on the tops! These are great as breakfast, lunch, dinner or a fast snack!

Cheesy Ranch Chex® Mix

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2011
This is a nice change from normal chex mix. I used 3 cups each of rice, corn, and wheat chex. I also used pretzel rods as that's what I had on hand and then I used 3 cups of chedder goldfish! The only other things I changed was I melted the butter mixed in the Ranch seasoning poured that over tossed together then tossed in some parmesan cheese and baked it at 250 for a hour stirring every 15 mins.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2011
Wow!! I made the cornbread into muffins to go with fried chicken and they were amazing together!!! This was the first time I made cornbread not out of a box. I will never buy a box again. I didn't change anything but what I baked it in (muffin pan). I have already been asked by my 10 yr. old to make more!

Taco Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2011
I made this for the first time a few nights ago. I left out the cayenne pepper and chili powder because my young kids where gonna be eating it. I also left out the green onions and used the mexican style cheese I had on hand. My family liked it but didn't think it was great. I reheated some of it for lunch the next day and it wasn't really that good. I do think I will make this again but maybe change it up a bit, maybe leave the sour cream on the side and use tostada shells.

Crispy Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2011
I used this recipe for dinner lastnight! This is only like the 2nd maybe 3 rd time I have ever made fried chicken and it turned out good! I only had 2 problems I was heating the oil while the chicken sat and waited for the crust to trun into a "paste like" as the directions said well after almost an hour it still looked the same to me (not paste like at all (1st problem)) so my oil got a little to hot and the chicken ended up burning (2nd problem). On the second batch that I put in the pan I just kept the chicken at the same temp and it turned out a perfect golden color and was cooked perfectly also! The only things I changed where I added hot sauce to the buttermilk and I added a few other spices to the flour. Thanks for the recipe

Baked Beans from Scratch

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
I made Coney dogs and these beans for a side dish tonight! My family loved them! I don't like beans of any kind so I did not try them (sorry) but everyone said they were great. I added bacon to them and doubled the sauce, to the sauce I added vinegar and mustard. Thank you for the recipe my family has really enjoyed it!

Dessert Nachos

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2011
I made these for a dessert a few days ago and my family loved them. I did double the peanut butter and powder sugar as suggested by another reviewer. I also didn't bother to melt the chocolate chips as they will melt when in the broiler. Oh yeah and last thing that I changed was I didn't do the coconut because my family doesn't like it!! This is a great fast dessert for a mexican themed dinner or just if you have all the ingredients on hand!! Thanks will make lots more!!

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2011
This is a great recipe but this time when I made it my sausage didn't produce much grease but im not sure if it was because I used a new Paula Dean pan I just got and it's non stick. I usually like to make it in my cast iron skillit but that wasn't clean at the time. So anyways it really needs the grease or it just doesn't taste the same. ( I added a bit of oil as another recipe called for)
