Apple Cake IV

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2011
Made per recipe, but used large apples, so it really had a lot! Sent this to my husband's work and he came back telling me that several had asked for the recipe and some of the guys went back for seconds! I have to agree. We "taste tested" it last night and hubby had a second helping "just to make sure it was good." Thanks for the excellent recipe!!!

Kale Krisps

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2010
This just didn't do it for me. Maybe I just don't like kale that much. Texture was ok, though and it was nice and crisp.

Hot German Potato Salad III

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
I love this recipe. Even people who don't expect to like it usually do! I usually add more bacon and sub apple cider vinegar for white vinegar. Sometimes I don't peel the potatoes, but that makes them hard to slice, so I don't recommend it. I have doubled and even tripled this recipe with great success, you just need a bowl big enough. I kept a triple batch warm at a family reunion in a large electric roaster, and that worked well as it tastes best warm, not cold. This is one of my favorite recipes!

Simple Scones

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
My husband says these are the best he's ever had! These are the first and only scones I have ever made. Everyone loves them. I have made them with currants, with semisweet chocolate chips and walnuts, and with dried red tart cherries and chocolate or nuts. All are terrific! The only thing I do different is use vanilla yogurt instead of sour cream. Oh, and I also cook them on my preheated pizza stone. I've tried cooking them other ways, but this is best in my opinion. Occasionally the dough is too sticky, but it's easy to work in more flour until it's the right consistency. I also love the tip for shredding the frozen butter. It makes it so much easier to work into the flour, and I've used the tip with other recipes since. Thanks for the great recipe!!
