HAPPY MARDI GRAS EVERYBODY! I just thought today was a good day to make King Cakes to celebrate Mardi Gras. I for one have never been to Mardi Gras but would like to someday. HAPPY MARDI GRAS!

I used the batter to make 2 cakes. Also, I used half the filling for cake #1.

I used the following recipe plus 1/2 cup more powdered sugar, 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon of butter. Make sure you cook this cake a bit longer because the cream cheese kind of makes it soggy.

I used this recipe to decorate the cake purple, green, and yellow topping (the traditional Carnival colors).

Today about an hour ago. We had a survey and Virginia Mom said I should change it to Spitfire. Explains me well.

Loved your cakes Spitfire; I voted for them as well! Did you do the little baby inside?.. I think maybe next year I'll make one since I never heard about them until this year!.. I know, I must have been living under a rock! :)

Sweetbytes: That is interesting. I'll have to go look at that website. Thanks for the heads up.

Traci B's Kitchen: Why thank you and thank you for the vote. I didn't do the baby inside because I didn't want to go to the store and the King Cakes were more for just the family. I've only known about them for about a year too so I'm living under the same rock!
