Ok. We all know that being a mother is sometimes hard. When you have kids that are sick, it makes it even harder. But what do you do when  kids are sick, husband is starting the "sick sloth" routine, and you're denying the fact that you might be coming down with something?

I for one DENY, DENY, DENY!!! To self-medicate I smoother all my food with Tabasco, continue eating regularly, and ensure I have pleny of water and rest.

3 days later if that doesn't help, I whip out some Tylenol, Theraflu, and hot tea.

If that doesn't work by the following week either wait another week to see if I can just "fight" it out of me but still make an appointment to see the doctor. Doctor appointment is usually the week following (go figure) and by then I feel alot better and not even go to the doctor.

The next week, I cancel the appointment the day prior and what do you know, my daughter brought home another bug from preschool.

How do you remedy your illnesses?

I just went through this a few weeks ago. I load up on the vitamin c. Drink lots of water and get extra rest. I have sinus issues alot anyways, and something I learned from my doctor is to use Simply Saline. I start using it when my kids get sick, if I'm beginning to feel as if I'm getting sick, or if I know I've been exposed to the germs. I do the saline routine morning and night and I swear by it. It's kind of gross and uncomfortable until you get used to it, then it's second nature. I was the only one who didn't get a bad cold and I know it's because I was doing the saline. Those germs just hang out and multiply inside your nose and sinuses and cleaning them out frequently doesn't give them much opportunity. If you still get sick, continuing the saline routine will at least shorten the duration of the illness and make your sinuses feel better. I can't recommend it enough. Simply Saline is the best because it doesn't have all those additives alot of the other saline solutions have. It also has a nice long nozzle that sprays mist and makes it all easier than those little squeezy bottles.
