HOW MANY ALLRECIPES RECIPES DID YOU MAKE THIS YEAR? 586 as of today but the year isn't over yet!!! WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE ALLRECIPES EXCHANGE MEMORY FOR 2009? When someone commented that I have a 5 acre garden on only 1/2 an acre. DID YOU KEEP YOUR NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION AND WILL YOU MAKE MORE FOR NEXT YEAR? Didn't make any last year but had yearly goals like to garden, learn how to can, and learn to crochet. This years "resolution" will be to quit smoking. WHAT SONG ROCKED YOUR WORLD IN 2009? "Party in the USA" because my kids love to dance with it in the kitchen everytime it comes on. WHAT MOVIE ROCKED YOUR WORLD IN 2009? Julie & Julia of course! MOST MEMORABLE MEAL IN 2009? Thanksgiving for my side of the family. MOST DISASTROUS MEAL IN 2009? Not being able to start the charcoal grill, which has happened at least 3 times this year. WHAT NEW AND EXCITING EVENT HAPPENED TO YOU THIS YEAR? I learned how to can food, crochet, and make hairbows for my kids. Other than that, nothing really exciting really happens around the house. :) WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT THIS YEAR? Probably making 586 recipes from Allrecipes this year alone and having a fruitful garden. WHERE DID MOST OF YOUR MONEY GO THIS YEAR? Gardening, food, and making double house payments on our house.

Dec. 28, 2009 8:14 am
I made about 77 recipes from here this year (the years not over yet). I don't do New Years Resolutions...The Black Eyed Peas rocked my world this year!! Can't think of a movie, don't watch too many anymore. Most memorable meal of the year was Christmas dinner. Most disastrous meal...not one was a disaster (well there was some DRY boneless chicken in there somewhere!) New and Exciting event?? Something new DID happen but it was far from exciting....My biggest achievement was... Most folks have no idea that my hubby isn't our daughter's biological dad. He has raised her nearly from birth though. Her biological father has never had anything to do with her from birth until this year, he went to court for visitation. It's not been easy at all but we ALL get along for her sake. Most of our money went to the everyday things. It's been tight this year but we've managed.
Dec. 28, 2009 8:17 am
Oh I forgot my most memorable Exchange memory....All the drama (just kidding)! Would have to be the Saturday night I participated in one of VA Moms games. I'm hardly ever on here at night.
Dec. 28, 2009 8:26 am
KUDOS for your achievement 1gdcowgrl. My older daughter isn't being raised by her biological father either so I understand that whole situation. He is in Iraq right now (or so I've heard) but he doesn't call, write, or visit. I know I'm selfish to say this but its so much easier and better that way.
Dec. 28, 2009 8:27 am

Oh I watched that online (DVD quality) the other day. It moved my husband to tears.
Dec. 28, 2009 8:30 am
1. I rated about 60 AR recipes, but know I made more. 2. The one I remember the most was the meanie with split personalities. . .cruel. I didn't participate but it really made an impact on many with trust levels. Including me. --A fun one was kind of naughty one night. Naughty recipes about bad dates and good dates. 3.) I didn't make a resolution--but too survive so I barely achieved that resolution. 4.) I hear a lot of Disney channel so I liked the song from the Hannah Montanna movie--I know lame. 5.) I really liked Star Trek. 6.) Ham and Pineapple kabobs. 7.) Mexican meatballs gucky (blame it on the recipe) 8.) New and exciting? Experienced getting in a car accident (roll over) for the first time. Something I of course would rather not repeat. 9.) Finding myself again. 10.) Probably travel and food.
Dec. 28, 2009 8:36 am

We hated the Serbian Beef casserole 8. Hubby lost the job he had had for 25 years which s*cked but found a new one he loves. It doesn't have the same pay or benefits but I was a wreck when he lost his job and we made it through and it taught me a lot about being strong and being grateful for what you are given in this life. 9. Painted the living room! Ugh, I hate to paint. And celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. 10. I wish I knew!!!!!!!!
Dec. 28, 2009 8:38 am
Yes. All the stress and drama got to me too. Not sure what happened the past couple months because I just stayed out of it.
Dec. 28, 2009 8:41 am
KUDOS on surviving the loss of his job. I know I would be beyond lost without my husband having a job.
Dec. 28, 2009 8:42 am
Thanks for acknowledging my achievement Josephine. Dealing with that man has been the second hardest thing I've done in life. It's an almost daily struggle. I do agree with ya', it would be so much easier on my daughter if he'd have just stayed away. She has the best daddy. Her daddy CHOSE to take on an instant family....

Dec. 28, 2009 8:49 am
That is an achievement and you reallly should be proud. I really do understand the struggle and stress. I finally had to wash my hands clean from "that man". I know when she is older that it won't be easy because she will have lots of questions and I'll have to explain to her why I made the decisions that I made.
Dec. 28, 2009 8:57 am
Thanks petey. I too would love a cow and some chickens but I don't have that kind of space. :( I made home canned gift baskets for everyone Christmas present this year. Spaghetti box with canned pasta sauce, canned carrots, green beans, jelly, and tomatillo salsa all the ingredients I grew! I can't wait for next year's harvest.

HOW MANY ALLRECIPES RECIPES DID YOU MAKE THIS YEAR? Probably around 100... I'm not the main cook in my house and I don't have that much time to cook. WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE ALLRECIPES EXCHANGE MEMORY FOR 2009? Watching for updates on gderr's wife and the collective support from the whole community for him and his family... it was really touching to me. I don't know if this counts, but the whole quilt thing was very memorable. DID YOU KEEP YOUR NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION AND WILL YOU MAKE MORE FOR NEXT YEAR? Oh dear, I can hardly remember my resolutions. Shows how dedicated I am... But I will make more next year for sure. Maybe to actually follow through on my resolutions ;-) WHAT SONG ROCKED YOUR WORLD IN 2009? So many. WHAT MOVIE ROCKED YOUR WORLD IN 2009? Julie & Julia, and I can't get enough of Donnie Darko (made in 2001 but I discovered it this year) MOST MEMORABLE MEAL IN 2009? Making my dad's birthday dinner. MOST DISASTROUS MEAL IN 2009? My dad made a recipe I found for him (a chicken dish) but he read the amount of salt wrong. 2 tablespoons instead of 2 teaspoons. That was rather difficult to eat. I did something similar - I was making eggless cookie dough for LTH's cookie dough cupcakes, and I accidentally used a tablespoon instead of a teaspoon for the salt. Luckily since it was going in cupcakes it wasn't a tragedy. There have been other minor disasters - see my photos of the Strawberry Yogurt Torte on my profile. WHAT NEW AND EXCITING EVENT HAPPENED TO YOU THIS YEAR? Lots of things! Going to debate camp during the summer was fun and exciting. And discovering the deliciousness of gingerbread lattes from Starbucks (I am currently drinking one, they are very addicting). WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT THIS YEAR? Every time I successfully made a new recipe or learned a new technique it was a big achievement =) WHERE DID MOST OF YOUR MONEY GO THIS YEAR? food
Dec. 28, 2009 9:12 am
Yes. gderr's wife and his situation was very touching. For some reason though, I knew that everything would be okay as long as we all kept Claire in our thoughts and prayers. I've never tried the gingerbread latte. Next time I get to a Starbucks and its in season, I'll definitely try that one.
Dec. 28, 2009 11:40 am
1-32 2-tie between gderr and claire and the AR quilt, very sweet. 3-don't make any 4-All The Single Ladies>Beyonce 5-a few; Juie & Julia,The Hangover 6-copied whole menu from a Sunnybyrd lamb meal-excellant! 7-Fish: wasted a whole expensive chunk of cod. Terrible meal-my fault. 8-my grandson came home from Florida! 9-Getting the agonizing "white screen" fixed on my Mac laptop-over two months of misery and frustration! 10-rewiring the house and switching from electric stove to a gas one-yippee!

Dec. 28, 2009 4:08 pm
I haven't made very many AR recipes this year, but the one that was a great hit was Pot Roast Caribe. The flop was a recipe involving ground beef and cabbage (can't remember the name). Julie & Julia was the world-rocking movie, that and Benjamin Button. WOW! Music nowadays just doesn't grab me-- I think the last music that rocked my world was the soundtrack for Legends of the Fall, and that's awhile ago! My great AR memory for the year is discovering the RE and blogs! My big achievement was being secretary for the group I'm in, and the exciting event was working as registrar for one of its big events. Can't quite remember where my money went this year (money? WHAT money?), mostly to the dentist and car repairs I guess, but I did treat myself to a few great cookbooks and a new Le Creuset French oven. I have an ongoing list of NY resolutions that I add to every year. I have not done very well at initiating any of them, but I do review the list every January. There are a LOT of resolutions to deal with! I'll make additions on New Year's Eve, when I also do a tarot reading for the New Year!

Josephine the Group Adzell started and then Roxanne JR took over. We pick recipes that have 5 or less reviews and make them. Different recipes every week. Its fun. We do it on Thursdays for the theme Fridays to pick the recipe and Sunday to review. We are taking a break until after the holidays but you should check it out sometime :)
