Last week, we were suppose to go blueberry picking but decided to wait until this week.
The weather was great but very windy.

AND YES, MORE BLUE BERRY PLANTS

We literally sat in a massive blueberry field which happened to have some flat rocks so we could eat lunch.

TIME TO GO HOME

No. Lindsay didn't fall on the rock and I was a horrible mother and took a picture. She got really grouchy after a couple hours of blueberry picking/sight seeing and would lay on the rocks and cry. :(

I'm planning to make massive amounts of blueberry muffins and pancakes. I'll freeze most of it though and use during the winter.

Ohh Yummy!.. OMG I wish I could go pick wild blueberries! How fun the kids must have had! Is Dolly Sods a park; I guess I'm asking if anyone could go pick them for free!

Thanks sueb. I can't wait to use them for blueberry muffins and pancaks. NUMMY!

Traci: Dolly Sods is a national forest. Although it is a national forest, its seems that blueberry picking really isn't frowned upon. There was literally a whole mountain top full of blueberries and anyone could pick them for free. We just had to watch out for the bears. And yes, the kids had tons of fun eating blueberries off the plants. Lindsay even got pretty good at it. So good in fact that we changed her diaper and it looked like a blueberry parfait exploded in it.

It really did look like she sharted out blueberries though! After the first and only full gallon of blueberries, my husband and I really did have enough. I really wanted another gallon of it but I didn't think the kids would allow us to get more. They kept eating them as we picked them.

Rock hugging pic SOOOooooOOoooo cute! And Josceline has done well attending to bear lookout and rock-posing. As to blue poop...first time my tot had grape Koolaid, I was ready to call the paramedics ... but put 2 and 2 together in time to figure out why his #2 looked like that.

AS usual, your excellent photos of your beautiful family. Those blueberries are beautiful too. What great memories you are creating for those girls.

Hezzy: LOL. My husband was actually the one who changed her. BSM: Thanks. I can't wait to create more memories with the 17 cups of blueberries (well 16 cups minus 1 cup of leaves, twigs, and bad blueberries).

Great pictures! I've got three small (very) blueberry bushes which I hope will produce a little for me next year. I've never gone blueberry picking. Have you seen the pickled blueberries recipe? Looks interesting! LOL about the blue poop. ;)

BTW, we were in the panhandle just yesterday. The mountain views are just gorgeous - I didn't get to see much. Dang antsy kids wanted to go back to Cabela's. They don't appreciate the nature aspect of WV.

Pam: Haven't seen the pickled blueberries yet but will look for it. As for the mountains, I usually drive (motion sickness and husband is a crazy driver) so don't check out the mountains until we stop somewhere. I can't wait to go sight seeing some more during fall.

Also, I have a SUPER small blueberry plant from last year. Its a compact blueberry plant but I think it was off season because it started to flower in the early spring in the greenhouse.
