About this Cook
I have been married to my best friend, Buddy, for 50+ years. We managed condominiums for over 20 years; retired in 2004. We live in central "Wild Wonderful" West Virginia.
My favorite things to cook
Healthy, flavorful food with a twist. I'm always on the lookout for the unusual ways of preparing recipes. My Mother and Grandmother were great role models because they loved all foods. Over the years I've collected over two hundred cookbooks. Now the food sites have made it possible for anyone to try recipes from all over the world. We are so lucky.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Any Pennsylvania Dutch recipe is treasured. I was fortunate to marry a wonderful person with Southern roots. My mother-in-law, Margaret Eggleton, helped me through the years--but I've never been able to make biscuits that compare to hers. What a treasure she was.
My cooking triumphs
Bread making, especially international baked goods are my favorite things to experiment with and I've had special triumphs in that area.
My cooking tragedies
Oh My! I did not record recipes that were family favorites.

Amish Macaroni Salad
Delicious and so easy to prepare. We did cut the amount of sugar to 1/4 cup. You can always add more if needed...There's plenty of dressing but I used half and chilled the salad then added more when it was cold. A great recipe, I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Baked Coconut Shrimp
Especially good with the unsweetened coconut. Great flavor and color, and baking makes it so easy to prepare. Egg whites keep it light, we omit the egg yolks whenever we can because shrimp has enough need for more! I used apricot jam mixed with honey mustard for the sauce. A great recipe, enjoyed by everyone, Thanks
