About this Cook
I am headed to culinary school in Colorado in 1 short week and I cannot wait! Cooking is something that has been a passion of mine for a long time and I am REALLY EXCITED to go learn more about something that I thoroughly enjoy! Hopefully I will get to share some fun and exciting things that I learn while I am there with all the people that I love. I believe that a true culinary genius is someone who can give a recipe to others to copy but they can never make it the same way that you do, not because you left something out, but because the heart of a cook cannot be duplicated.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts (who doesn't?), Italian food, and anything new and exciting!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Good southern home-cooked food, recipes that my mom carried with her and into our lives from Germany over 30 years ago, Christmas- the holidays and especially Christmas bring out the foodie traditions in our family like none other, we all LOVE to eat and therefore, food is an unending journey when the holidays some around
My cooking triumphs
Every night when I cook for my family or boyfriend and they say, "Wow, that's awesome!"
My cooking tragedies
i baked the same chocolate chip cheesecake for about 10 years and entered it in my church's annual Chili Cook-off. You would think that I would learn, but as a small child I was sure that it was the absolute best and all the judges were just sorely mistaken for not even given it honorable mention. It never won, but I am still convinced that it is AMAZING!!!

Cranberry Salad IV
This is a recipe that my grandmother has made for 40+ years. Here are some helpful hints to make it even better. Start in the morning of the day before you want to serve. Crush the cranberries and mix with 1 1/2 cups sugar (my grandmother uses 2!! which is a bit much so I use 1 1/2) Mix together and let it rest all day. Drain the juice out at the end of the day and put it back in the fridge. Day of: Drain again, add marshmallows, a big can of crushed pineapple, and 2 cups red seedless grapes, halved. Then right before you want to serve whip the cream and add 1 cup whipped cream to the salad!! This makes it aaaaaaa-mazing!!
