Greek Style Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2005
The first time I made this recipe I followed the directions as stated. However, I used golden potatoes. The 2nd time I used the juice of one lemon, 3 bouillions. I was out of thyme so I used a tsp of oregano. About 10-15 min before they were done I pulled the lid off so that they would be a bit dryer like my fav greek restaurant. The potatoes were good the first time, GREAT the 2nd time. This is a definite keeper

Bigos (Hunter's Stew)

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2009
My exhusband is from Poland and made this often. I have made this recipe several times now and my sons say its better then their fathers. I followed the directions exactly the first time. Now I don't coat the meat. I just throw it all together on top of the stove at first browning the meat and then adding everything. I also use a bag of shredded coleslaw mix instead of chopping a carrot and cabbage. Works great! I just throw pork, beef or chicken in. Whatever I have or is on sale. I've never had this recipe turn out bad. We love it at our house!

Boiled Tongue

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2005
I also add a few bay leaves and about a half tablespoon of whole black peppers. A friend from Mexico, taught me to use shredded cabbage (I used bag), with aprox 5 sliced green onions, 1 large chopped tomato, 2 or 3 chopped and seeded jalepeno's all tossed together with a bit of olive oil and salt to make a salad. Then take chopped tongue on a soft tortilla that has been fried slightly with about a 1/4th cup of the salad and you have one great taco! Those who get grossed out at the thought of "tongue" don't know what they are missing!

Hot Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2005
This was a winner! I used 1/3 cup parmesan, 1/3 cup Asiago cheese, and 1/3 cup Mozzarella. I omitted the pimento's. I will definitely be making this one again and again!

Cream Corn Like No Other

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2005
Good and easy recipe. I've never made cream corn so I have nothing to compare it to other then canned cream corn. However, everyone liked it. Not a lot of comments but noticed the kids taking 2nds. Taking 2nds means a lot at our house!

Yummy! I used 3 can's of beef broth(14.5 oz), 1.5 can's petite diced tomotos. Used dry herbs and cut the amounts in half. Also, used bulk spicy Italian sausage. REALLY YUMMY! Next time I am going to put Italian green beans in like another reviewer mentioned.

Aaahh! Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2005
Great EASY recipe! I used fat free 1/2 and 1/2 and added about 1/3 cup real "fat free" bacon bits. Next time I will add carrots and celery for more texture. Great Recipe for a cold lazy day

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
I followed the suggestion of others and used beef broth (2 cans) plus water to equal recipes liquid requirement. I also used 2 pkg's of Italian Salad Dressing. My husband wasn't thrilled by the recipe but my son raved about it. We ate about 1/2 at dinner and the next day my son ate the entire 1/2 roast by himself. He then asked me if I could make the recipe again later in the week. I thought the recipe was good. I would probably rate it 4 star except that my son absolutely went crazy over it and I didn't follow the original recipe to a tee.

This deserves 5 stars just for being the easiest recipe out there! My son liked it so much that he ate the last half by himself then got in the fridge and made another batch!

Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2005
I really loved this recipe because it was super easy and the flavor was fantastic. There was one problem though. My ham was very dry. Next time I will watch the ham better and make sure it doesn't dry out. There was plenty of liquid in the crock. My experiance was a 4 star but had I watched the ham better I think it would have been a definite 5 star.

Baked Apricot Chicken

I used only 6 chicken thighs but used the same amount of other ingredients. I mixed the sauce at the bottom with white rice after baking. I loved the easy recipe and my family really liked the meal. This one is a keeper.

French Onion Soup III

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2006
At first I was really disapointed. The soup part seemed to taste like beef broth more then anything and I wasn't that impressed. HOWEVER...once the french bread was in the bowl and the cheese was on top I totally changed my mind. It was very good. The ease and taste makes this a 5 star! I only used 3T of butter and there was no excess butter in the soup.

Justin's Hoosier Daddy Chili

The first words out of my husbands mouth when he tasted this chili was "YUM"! This is so easy and soooooooooo good. My family loves another chili recipe on this site but I think its just been out done. I used ground round to keep the fat content down. This is a 5 star recipe not just on taste but on how how easy it is!

Spinach Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2005
This recipe was just "ok" so I am wondering if maybe I should have used a different Italian salad dressing since it has so many 5 stars. I used Wishbone Italian. Next time I'll use something else. I did double the feta and next time will use a bit less onion.

I have fixed this recipe several times. I use a larger size jar spaghetti sauce and lost more cheese. I also use Italian Sausage instead of beef on occasion and will add mushrooms. Its one of my sons favorite dinners.
