Chocolate Surprise Cupcakes

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
These are very, very good. If you do decide to use a cake mix, just remember that if you keep the oven temp at 350 as the recipe calls for, the cake will cook faster than the filling, and you'll end up with a still-liquid center. The remedy is to turn the oven temp down to 325 so they bake a little slower.

Pineapple Upside-down Cake Martinis

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2008
A very, very good drink, but only if you make it right. First off, it MUST have Amaretto to make it taste like a real pineapple upside down cake. Usually a heavy splash or so. Second, use very good vanilla vodka. I've tried it with cheap vodka, and you can't taste the vanilla, which really makes or breaks this drink. You might be able to get away with regular vodka and a light splash of vanilla extract, but I really suggest the vanilla vodka.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2008
I baked this in a dark bunt pan and the suggested baking time was WAY too long. Mine was done in under 45 mins. The flavor was good, but it was so dense that had I dropped it on my foot, I would have had to make a trip to the ER. Next time I'll use 2 fewer eggs.

French Silk Chocolate Pie I

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2008
I don't know what happened, but mine never thickened up. I beat for a full five minutes after each egg, but it remained soupy. I had to add cool whip to give it some body. :(

Not bad. Not the best, either.

Yum Yum Cake III

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2008
This really wasn't anything special. It just tasted like a yellow cake with a bunch of cool whip. The cake itself really needed something... maybe pineapple in the batter? I used pineapple juice instead of the water called for in the cake recipes, but it was still bland. I'd make again, but definitely with changes.

Tanning Bed Drink

It's even better when you add a little grenadine... it sinks to the bottom and adds a beautiful layer.

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2008
This recipe did not work for me! The chocolate seized the moment it hit the butter/sugar/water mixture. I was so disappointed in the waste of good ingredients that I didn't bother trying again. Save yourself the trouble and find a new receipe.

Beer Cake I

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2008
Not bad. I used this as a base recipe and made a chocolate cake using a Devil's Food cake mix, chocolate instant pudding and Guinness stout.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2008
Great recipe, but be sure to use the store-bought frosting. I tried to make my own and ended up using too much which ruined the recipe. I had to start all over. Also, wait for the cake to COMPLETELY cool before crumbling. Don't try to do it while it's still warm or you'll end up with a mess. Also, they roll easier if you refridgerate them for at least an hour beforehand.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
Not bad. They definitely look beautiful. But they seem to be missing something... maybe just a teensy bit more salt? Not sure. One user suggested letting them cool on the cookie sheet, but this will make the bottoms crisper. If you want really chewy cookies, bake for just a minute or two shorter than the suggested time, and remove them from the cookie sheet after two to three minutes.

Orange Drop Cookies II

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2008
I have no idea what happened, but these did not turn out! Instead of spreading and becoming soft and cake-like, they turned out more like orange-scented hard round rocks. I followed the recipe exactly, including cooking time and temperature, so I have no clue what happened.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2008
This was great! I only had vanilla instant pudding, so I used that and added and extra 1/4 c sweetened cocoa powder and it turned out wonderfully. Surprisingly moist. My go-to chocolate cake recipe from now on!

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2008
This was great. I like my frostings a little sweeter, so I added about 1/3 c more sugar. I also increased the cream cheese by 1/2 of another package to thicken it up a little. Whipping the cream in a separate chilled bowl really helped. Also, be sure to FOLD the two mixtures together with a spatula... don't beat with a mixer. I'm using this as both a filling and frosting for chocolate cupcakes.

Creamy Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2007
Great taste! I did add 1/2 of a package of softened cream cheese to it at the end and it turned out great. I also found it a little greasy so I ended up adding about 1/3 c powdered sugar to make it thicker.
