Lentil and Smoked Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2013
I made several modifications, but loved the recipe! It was very flavorful and very easy. When I was at the store, I forgot that it called for cabbage. I had some carrots at home, so I included those instead. It was GREAT! I used 4 cloves of garlic instead of one (because one clove of garlic in a nice stew is pointless), kielbasa sausage, and low sodium chicken broth. It didn't need a lot of salt because the sausage provided so much flavor. You could do so many variations with this, using whatever is on hand. A keeper!

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: May 30, 2013
We loved this. I followed the recipe exactly, except I marinated the chicken about 2.5 hours instead of 30 minutes. It was seasoned well, with lots of flavor. Some reviews say it didn't have enough flavor, but I don't see how that is possible. The chicken grilled up moist and juicy. We served it to our neighbors at a dinner party and everyone loved it. I'm adding this to my go-to list!

Lemon Pasta Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2013
I liked it, but I found it to be not lemony enough. I did not include the lime (I thought that might be weird), but I added an extra tablespoon of lemon juice. Will keep, but will adjust the amount of lemon in the future.

Mulligatawny Soup I

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2013
This was great. We loved it. I made it according to the recipe with the exception of omitting the celery because I hate it (I put a little celery seed in instead). My only complaint is that it didn't make enough! It definitely did not make 6 servings--it was more like 2.5. The picture looks much thinner than mine. Mine was extremely thick. Delicious, but thick. I will have to add more chicken broth next time if I want leftovers (and I do).

Unbelievable Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2013
I thought this was pretty good. I accidentally left the chicken marinating in the fridge for 2 days, but if anything, it only made the flavors better. My husband thought it was unbelievable, as the name suggests. I thought it was pretty tasty, but perhaps not unbelievable.

Grilled Tilapia with Mango Salsa

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2013
AHHHH, SOOOO GOOOOOOD. I made chicken with the marinade instead of tilapia since my (crazy) husband doesn't eat fish. I ate half the salsa with a spoon before the chicken was done. This is definitely a keeper--easy, tasty, fresh.

Sesame Noodles

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2013
These were pretty good. I think next time I will cut down just a smidge on the sugar. I may up the sesame oil as well. Otherwise, very good. Will keep.

Cindy's Coleslaw

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2013
Very fast and easy! I only eat coleslaw on top of my BBQ sandwiches, not by itself, so I can't evaluate it on its stand alone flavor. However, it was good on my sammich!

Lemon Horseradish New Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2013
During our dinner, we kept spontaneously exclaiming "I love these potatoes!" "These potatoes are so good!" Definitely a keeper. I made them according to the recipe, except that I uncovered them for the last 15 minutes or so. These will be a staple in my house, and I bet there are a million variations you can use with the basic recipe.

Baked Coconut Shrimp

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2013
These were certainly not bad, but they were not good enough to keep the recipe, either. The flavor was mediocre. As others suggested, I pulsed my coconut so that it would be finer. I had trouble with the breading adhering to the shrimp, and the coconut never really got nice and crispy. I will not make this again.

Creamy Chipotle Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2013
This was ok, but not great. I found it a little bland. The flavor didn't really get down into the chicken like I think it should have. It may be more flavorful the next day, but it was not my favorite.

Ultimate Green Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
I thought these were good. The onions caramelized in the pan, which was very good! The bacon added a nice, salty bite. My only issue with them is that I think 15 minutes was a little long--the beans started to lose a lot of their green by that time. Also, I could not taste the lemon juice, and that is too bad, because I was really looking forward to a lemony flavor. Next time, I think I will cut the cooking time down a bit and add a touch more lemon. My other complaint was my own fault--they were a little greasy because the kind of bacon I used (read: cheap) gave off a lot more drippings than I think the author's must have. These are a nice change of pace, and I will probably make again.

Baked Soy Lemon Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
I thought these were pretty good, but my husband thought they were the best ever. They were very easy--I marinated them overnight, so the flavor was nice and pronounced. Will probably make again.

Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2012
Nom! This was delicious, and easy to prepare (but not hands-off, since you had to baste so often). The ham was so moist and juicy and flavorful! I think next time, I will try to put a brown sugar crust around the ham, the way the Honeybaked store does, because the skin got very dry and tough despite basting. The inner part of the ham is GREAT, though! I also think I will either omit the cloves or use a small amount sprinkled on top next time. The flavor of them was a little strong for our tastes.

Biscotti Toscani

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2012
I liked these pretty well. I give them 4 stars because the dough was a little sticky and hard to work with, and they were a little too sweet. I think I'll cut down on the sugar just a tad next time.

Orange Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2012
This was very good, but the mustard flavor really came through more than I had hoped it would. I'll make it again, but this time I'll add about half the mustard and a little olive oil instead.

Vegetarian Korma

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2012
This was pretty tasty! I liked it a lot, but it wasn't as creamy and nutty as the korma I get at my favorite Indian restaurant. I will do a few things differently next time, like using coconut milk instead of cream, and I might also add more cashews. I'll make it again.

Limehouse Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2012
We loved this chicken! It was easy to make, and very flavorful. I didn't think one lime would provide enough flavor, but it did! I made this according to the directions, with the addition of a little garlic powder in the flour mixture. We will definitely make it again, and a double batch next time.

Eggplant with Garlic Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2012
Eggplant with garlic sauce is my favorite Chinese dish, and this recipe is very good. I modified this recipe based on several others' suggestions. I seasoned the eggplant with salt and pepper, and then added fresh garlic to the stir-fried eggplant (5 cloves). I also added more oyster sauce, a dash of fish sauce, and some sesame oil to the sauce. I topped it with green onions, and it was just delicious! I think it will be even better tomorrow after it sits in the fridge.

Blueberry 'S' Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2012
This is fabulously delicious! I baked mine in a 9x13 pan, but only did one layer of crust, so it should have been enough. Instead, while cooking, half the crust disappeared into the blueberries! But, really, who cares--it is amazingly tasty!
