Mini Sweet Potato Samosas

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2008
I added sauted onion and garlic and I left out the onion packet mix (too easy and not creative enough). I added in a just a little tumeric and curry powder and baked them a bit longer than called for, for extra crunchiness. Lastly, I served them with three little bowls of sauces... dijon thinned with white wine, spicy BBQ sauce, and soy sauce. Delicious!

Hot Mustard Popcorn

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2008
I made this recipe for a birthday party and it had an almost bitter taste. Most of it did get eaten but only late in the evening when nothing else was left. I was so disappointed as the recipes sounds delicious. I certainly won't use it again.

Vegetarian Chickpea Curry with Turnips

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2008
I had lots of leftover Turnips from my winter crop so gave this a shot. I used a whole red bell bepper and turnip and well as WAY increased the spiciness factor. It was pretty good.

San Francisco Sourdough Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2008
I bake breads regularly and have been searching for the perfect sourdough recipe. This most certainly wasn't it. It tasted like plain ole white country bread. It was a very disappointing sourdough bread.

Traditional Pita Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
It was good as pizza dough but wasn't even close to the consistency of pita bread. I was bummed.

Group Effort Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2008
I made a few adjustments but overall it was very good. I sauteed the red bell pepper and spinach just a bit, I cubed the cheese, and added some crushed red pepper. Yum-O!

Creamy Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2008
Excellent! I made many changes though. 1) I added one cup of carrots, two cloves garlic, and some hot red pepper. 2) I only pureed half of the soup. 3) I used leftover BBQ pork 4) I used one quart water and one quart chicken broth. Using the strong flavored pork as well as the chicken broth added a sense of depth to the soup. It was quite delicious.

Herb Oyster Crackers

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2008
These are the best!!! My Dad used to make them as a special treat when I was a child and I can't wait to make them for my son. I do use significantly less oil though and more dill.

Becky's Sugary Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2008
Despite the many nasty reviews I thought these cookies were pretty good. I'm still searching for the perfect sugar cookie recipe but this was great. I upped the vanilla to a teaspoon and liked that these cookies aren't overly sweet.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
Wonderful!!! I've searched for years for a good icing recipe to top holiday sugar cookies with and I've finally found it. The icing isn't overly sweet and it dries hard and very pretty.

Lentils And Spinach

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
This is a great base recipe for lentils. I didn't have spinach so had to leave that out but I added sauted green bell pepper and carrots instead.

Roasted Rosemary Cauliflower

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
I always roasted my cauliflower (rather than steam it) I think it brings out the best flavor. I often mix up the herbs as well. Sometimes I use curry powder thyme, or cumin but I always use spg (salt, pepper, garlic).

I rarely follow a recipe to the T but I did with this one (except that I added a stalk of celery) and it was amazing! I mean delicious!!!

Risotto alla Milanese

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
This was very delicious. I left out the bone marrow (cause I didn't have any) but the dish was a huge hit with my family. The addition of the saffron was excellent!

Ten Minute Enchilada Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
This was okay. I still haven't found the "just perfect" enchilada sauce but this was a good base. I upped the amount of cumin and added cayenne pepper.

Easy Swedish Pancakes

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
These were wonderful and just like at the Stockholm Inn in Rockford, Ill. I had trouble flipping them but pieces of these are better than none at all. I could care less if they look pretty. It's that they taste good that matters!

Pumpkin Black Bean Soup

Excellent recipe but because I never seem to follow a recipe exactly here is what I changed...I sauted the garlic, onion, and a jalapeno in some bacon grease and added cumin and fresh cilantro.

Washabinaros Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2009
This chili had a very interesting and distinct flavor. It was very yummy. I left out the coffee (because I didn't have any) and I used ground turkey. Otherwise, I followed the recipe exactly.
