Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2011
I used whole wheat flour instead of ap flour, oil instead of shortening, and 3 T honey in place of the sugar. They are relatively easy to make, and were loved by my family! I'l be making these again!

Creamy Black Bean Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2011
I cooked up the dried black beans, then blended everything in the blender, leaving it slightly chunky using tomato paste instead of ketchup. This is great with veggies!

Habanero Hot Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2011
I liked this, my son said it wasn't hot enough! I love the fact that I didn't have to wear gloves to handle the peppers, but instead put the whole peppers right into the blender! Now I just have to figure out the best method to store this! On second thought, it might not last long enough for that to be a concern!

Dilly Tomato and Beet Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2011
I used green pepper and onion to get the green color and the onion flavor. I cooked fresh beets. The walnut oil really makes this salad! It smells great, looks cool and crisp, and tastes delightful!

Gluten-Free Hot Breakfast Cereal

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2011
I didn't bother to grind this up. I just put all the ingredients in a container and shook it up. Then I used 1/3 cup of cereal mix to 1 cup of water. My DD left her cinnamon flavored flax with me, and that made if smell really good as it heated up! Delicious!

Tarte aux Moutarde (French Tomato and Mustard Pie)

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
Fantastic taste! I layered the cheese on top of the tomatoes instead of under them. Great flavor and color combination!

Thornehedge Peach Slaw

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
I used regular cabbage, not the savoy. Although the yellow and red peppers would have made this colorful, I just used a green pepper. I did without the onions and celery seed. The salad dressing was what really made this! Next time I can't wait to try this using the pecans and mint as called for. Today, I put cashews on as garnish.

Gluten Free Italian Chex® Mix

I loved Sarah Jo's suggestion of adding nutritional yeast instead of the Parmesan cheese! The vinegar really makes this mix taste great! I'll be making this again soon!

Okra Patties

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2011
i eliminated the oil to fry in because I "dry fried" my patties. I used chipotle chili pepper instead of black pepper, and garbanzo bean flour instead of ap flour. These are great tasting, especially with salsa!

I used peaches instead of apples, and omitted the sugar and salt. I served this on red leaf lettuce, not beet greens. Great salad!

Chocolate One Minute Icing

Easy to make! Great when you don't have or don't want to use powdered sugar! This is a rich glaze for cookies! I used it on Habanero Cookies, and it was wonderful!

Easy to make! I made 1/2 the recipe and got 3 dozen. The chocolate frosting that I put on made them just right! Great cookies!

Spiced-Up Grilled Tater Wedges

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
I baked these instead of grilled them, so I put the potato wedges into a gallon bag, added 1 T oil and the seasonings. When the potatoes were coated, I baked them on parchment paper for 30 minutes at 400. My family loves these! We served them with yogurt instead of sour cream.

Habanero Pepper Cream Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
I used spaghetti as my base for the "hot" sauce. I omitted the oil and butter because of spray oil, used a fresh habanero, and subbed soy milk for the cream, then I found that I needed an extra T of whole wheat flour(I didn't use ap flour). I served the sauce on the spaghetti, topped it with the chopped tomatoes, and sprinkled on the cheese. This warms you up as it goes down when warm! As a leftover, the "heat" isn't quite as intense! Great idea!

Red Velvet Pancakes with Cream Cheese Glaze

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
Instead of powdered sugar and vanilla, I used 2 T buckwheat honey, and used a little extra soy milk for the glaze. For the pancakes, I used whole wheat flour, honey instead of sugar, omitted the salt, and soy milk instead of buttermilk. I could not find food coloring on hand, so used a beet smoothie instead of the milk and food coloring. I know I put in a lot of substitutes here, but these are excellent pancakes! I made them so my family could eat them! I will be making these again!

Great taste! I used chili powder, and omitted the cayenne pepper! I rolled the filling in a tortilla shell, and made little pinwheels.

This is good, but I think that next time, I will use a jalapeno pepper instead of the Tabasco sauce! This is an easy recipe, one that is worth having!
