A trip down memory lane and memories that make me “melt”…

A trip down memory lane and memories that make me melt...

From the top of a heaping bowl of fresh buttered popcorn to the bottom of the cookie jar, there’s nothing quite like the taste of REAL butter.  As far back as I can remember butter made everything taste better whether it was spread on top of toast or melting over mashed potatoes. When I think of butter it brings me straight back to my childhood and some of my favorite memories.

But, I have to say that my favorite "trip down memory lane" with butter has to be baking with my Grandmother. She would transform her kitchen into a bakery of sorts and the sights and smells made my mouth water. Plus the fun of putting my hands into dough and getting a bit messy wasn’t too bad either. This was not only a time to bake but a time to spend “quality time” together. In other words there were no interruptions - just great conversation and not to mention some fabulous baked goods as a result.  Being half English, I was introduced to the wonderful world of “baking with butter” with tea biscuits, scones, and shortbread along with a piping hot cup of tea!  The memories of which make me "melt"...

About Me
I got into cooking and baking as a way to relax. I recently got married and this site is a life saver!! Now I don't have to leaf through recipe books. Everything is right here in one spot. I used to watch both my grandmothers and they could come up with just about anything! I don't have a lot of their old recipes, but I have been able to find similar things on this site. My Grandma Helen was a phenomenal baker and my Grandma Jean is still one of the best cooks I know. My husband is eternally grateful for their influence.
My favorite things to cook
Buffalo Wings - Our neighbors can't get enough! I won't be posting that recipe on this site. It's a secret I'll take to the grave!!! They're that good!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Turkey at Thanksgiving!!!
My cooking triumphs
Making spaghetti sauce for the first time. I thought it was something only my mother could do - but, it turned out fantastic!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I attempted a potatoe casserole using all fat free ingredients - it was absolutely disgusting! It had a horrible aftertaste and ended up right in the garbage.
