About this Cook
I'm a working mom with a toddler and another baby on the way. I love finding new and different ways to sneak veggies in to our meals.
My favorite things to cook
I love "one pot" meals, and anything cooked on the grill for everyday meals. I love to cook more elaborate meal plans for entertaining. All holidays are excuses to cook for my friends and family!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom was masterful at adding vegetables into all possible dishes, and with a small child myself, I now understand why! She also loved to cook one-pot meals, and she had a recipe for carrot cookies that are delicious. I try to follow in her footsteps of healthy cooking and living.
My cooking triumphs
I came in second place in a cooking competition with a recipe I wrote myself.
My cooking tragedies
Many loaves of brick-like leaden bread. I haven't quite figured out the knack for getting bread to rise properly. Sometimes I get lucky, but many times my bread is most suitable for toasting.

Whole Wheat Beer Bread
This bread was really quick and easy to make. I served it with minestrone soup, and the leftovers have served as really yummy toast for breakfast the past couple of days. I followed the recipe exactly, and will probably try it with all whole wheat next time to see if I like it as well. Thanks for a great recipe!

Jamie's Minestrone
This soup is delicious! I love the abundance of vegetables. I used frozen green beans instead of canned (better for you) but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. I served it with the whole wheat beer bread from this site (also delicious) and it made a great dinner for a winter night.

Favorite Chocolate Cake
I made this into cupcakes, and they turned out really well. For me, at least, the batter turned out really thick, almost like chocolate mousse (and was really yummy!) I baked the cupcakes at 350 for about 15 minutes. They were not overly sweet, which worked well with the super-sweet frosting we put on top. We'll make them again.
