Grape Pear Crisp

An amazing dessert. It's an elegant and "grown-up" version of apple crisp.

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
Darn Yummy. It was a big hit. I followed the recipe but it wasn't spicy enough for us. Cayenne and red pepper flakes were added to the left overs and the left over rice was mixed in. Perfect the second day.

Oven Baked BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
I make this recipe as is with added "hot spices" and don't baste as much. This is a great way to have tasty ribs while the cold winter wind is blowing and the BBQ is buried under mounds of snow. This is a great dish for Football Sundays

Apple Crumble Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
This recipe was altered slightly with the suggestions of other cooks; mixed the flour, sugar and cinnamon before placing into the crust. I think I heaped too many apples but it didn't landslide when sliced. I'll make this again

Banana Banana Bread

I made this as per recipe and it's amazing! Every once in a while I'll add a little some-some. Raisins, walnuts, cranberries, dried fruit..the banana bread is always a hit!

Slow Cooker Chicken Creole

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
The only thing I swapped was fresh mushrooms, local hot peppers and added rice at the end. Mine was runny. OMG, this recipe is amazing! The kind you want to keep eating wwwaaaaayyy after you're full. I had left overs, only the 2 of us now, so I added 1/2 cup of wine (the bad kind some people bring) and 1/2 cup of water and will let "warm" all day while at the football game and see how it turns out! Once my kids moved into their own homes, the first thing I purchased for them was a slow cooker. It's a must for any working household.

OMG!! Thank you for this recipe. Fungi Risotto is one of my favourite dishes and this is as good as the one served at the "fine dining" restaurante.

Make-Ahead Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
I used this recipe this past Thanksgiving (Canadian) and with the amount of food we serve, I need things made ahead of time. I skipped the onion salt and added grated garlic. The potatoes were creamy, fluffy and tasty the next day after the reheat. This recipe is a "keeper"

Vegetarian Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
I made this for a family gathering, it was really hearty and filling without the tortilla chips (my parents aren't into "chips"). This will be added to the soup repertoire this fall and winter.

Baked Buffalo Wings

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2009
These are the best wings I've ever made and/or have ever eaten. I love crisp wings without the slop of sauce. The second time around I removed the skin from the wing but they were a little dry...but really not bad.

Made for Xmas dinner. Every year I try to impliment as many "make ahead" dishes as possible. It was a huge success. Fresh and light next to all the heavier foods. This will become a year round staple.

This was a great hit with the family. I recommend marinading over night and the next day. My ribs were a little shy on inner taste.
