Chocolate Crepes

Reviewed: May 13, 2002
My 13-year old sister made these and they were delicious! My husband didn't care for the mocha taste so you may want to eliminate the coffee granules, but I thought they were awesome!

Bavarian Cream

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2005
I personally was not impressed. I used this recipe for the filling for a 50th birthday cake. Not one comment was made on the filling. This was not my idea of Bavarian Cream.

Company Chicken Pasta Salad with Grapes

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2005
I don't know what the hype is about this recipe. Curry in pasta salad is gross, even over-night it wasn't that great.

Texas Ranch Potato Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2005
I was looking for a good potato salad that had Ranch in it because there's a deli here in town that serves something like it. This was the closest I could find and it was delicious!

Stir-Fry Pork with Ginger

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2005
This needed something extra. First of all I doubled the soy sc. & rice wine. Then I mixed two tablespoons of cornstarch with two tablespoons of water, then poured into the pan. This makes it much thicker tastes great too.

Basil Shrimp

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2007
I made this for Mother's Day, and as others suggested, cut the brown mustand in half. Out of the steak, ribs, salmon and all the side items, this shrimp was the biggest hit!!!! Will definately make this again. I bought 2- 2 lb. bags of colossal shrimp at Sam's for only $12 and this recipe made it well worth it!

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2006
Not sure why this recipe gets rave reviews. I followed it to a tee (but added cubed beef) and it wasn't flavorful at all. So, I decided to add the following and it came out just perfect: 1 cup of strong brewed coffee, 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder, extra 8 oz of salsa, 1 tablespoon of ground cumin, 4 extra tablespoons of chili seasoning mix. It makes a huge batch that only lasted our family 2 days. I give the revised recipe 5 stars.

Baked Yam and Potato Casserole

Reviewed: May 8, 2002
This was a great dish except my husband is not very fond of sweet potatoes. I used chicken broth w/herbs instead of the veggie broth. Great flavor!

Southern Grilled Barbecued Ribs

Reviewed: May 11, 2008
This was good. I thought the sauce was a bit too sweet for my husband's taste but he didn't seem to think so. Not sure I would make this again, the sause was a bit time-consuming and you can buy great BBQ sauce bottled these days.

Gyoza

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2007
With a few alterations, these were the BEST Gyozas I've ever had. I took it to a dinner and got so much positive response it was almost over-whelming. First of all, I chopped the veggies in my food processor very fine. Omitted onions and used green onions instead. Then, I browned the pork. After cooling, I put the pork in the food processor. Then I put the veggies in the frying pan with Sesame oil, 1/2 TBS of powdered ginger, and 2 TBS of Japanese Rice Vinegar. It will be somewhat of a mushy consistency, so just fry it for about 10 minutes. Then in a large bowl, mix it with the pork. Omit the egg, you don't need it especially if you are chopping everything in the food processor. It holds together just fine. These are a bit time consuming, but SO worth the effort.

Very Special Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2006
I wasn't that impressed. First of all, you MUST drain the grease! I had wondered if I should, but decided to follow the recipe exactly. It was greasy as can be!!! I had a whole layer of grease on top, thank goodness I wasn't cooking for company.

Charline's Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2005
I thought this was great. The directions are not great though; it does not state to cook the potatos first before mashing. I assumed I was suppose to, but it then stated to cook until "tender". Well this made no sense. You can't mash raw potatos so I cubed them and cooked them. They had to cook much longer than 20 min for it to "set". In the end it turned out great, loved the topping also.

Mediterranean Crusted Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2003
This was very easy to prepare, very juicy and tasty. My family loved it. Only thing I did different was, since I did not have any fresh basil, I substituted for 1 tablespoon of dried basil.

Banana Smoothie

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2011
Good basic banana smoothie. I did halve the honey and used real vanilla beans. My kids liked it and my husband said it was good. I used sliced up frozen bananas I had in a baggie in the freezer. It gave 2 large portions or 3 small.

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2006
I served this for my husband and his guest one night. I was told that this was the best thing they had ever put in their mouths!!! When layering, I used 2 tortilla shells instead of one. I also left out the olives since my husband doens't like them. I don't like refried beans, so I didn't eat it at all.

Savory Garlic Marinated Steaks

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2006
This is an awesome marinade. The first time it turned out perfect. The second time I only left it in the marinade for one night and it just wasn't enough. I know now to keep it in the marinade for at least two nights.

Chicken Enchilada Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2005
This should be called Chicken Enchilada Casserole because it was a huge hit with the office and nobody used the chips. They said it was awesome without it! I handed out a recipe to everylady in the office. Only substitution I made, was I used 2 large cans of Tyson's chunck chicken in place of the chicken breasts.

Skillet Pork Chops with Potatoes and Onion

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2005
This was awesome! You could cut the pork chops with a fork! I was out of lemon juice so I used lime instead and had no parmesan so used Romano. Definately eliminate the extra salt. It's not needed. The Gold potatoes are a must. They have that buttery flavor that enhances this dish altogether. This one's a keeper.
