Honey Ginger Chicken Stir-Fry

Reviewed: May 4, 2010
Seriously, seriously excellent. It was literally ready in minutes- I pre-prepared the chicken and the sauce mixture a few hours before so it was ready to throw into the pan. I added a small splash of sesame oil which made it taste even more oriental. I also just used 1 tbsp + 1 tsp cornstarch 'cause I haven't a clue what "cornstarch plus" is. Very very tasty, and so healthy! This is an immediate addition to the family cookbook.

Sensational Steak Sandwich

Uttery divine. I made a French Onion Soup with the drained broth from simmering the steak mixture and it was the best I've ever had.

Meringue Mushrooms

Unbelievable! They look so much like the real thing, it's scary! My advice is to make 30% more stems than caps, because some of mine flopped over. Thanks for the coolest recipe ever!

Elegant Stroganoff Meatballs

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2010
Ok for a midweek meal but we didn't find it terribly exciting. I made it for guests and we agreed that the meatballs were moist and tasty, but the mushroom sauce was somewhat same-y.

Canja

Lovely....but. It's just chicken soup! With a sexy name and the promise of Brazillian flavours, I was expecting something magical to happen with the chicken, rice, veg and ham. But it just cooked up into a tasty (but regular) chicken soup.

Pizza On The Grill I

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2009
Spectacular! Hint: roll your dough round your rolling pin (flour the top of the dough first) to transfer to the BBQ, and then just roll it back out over the grill. We had some stretching problems before we figured out this trick. Once the bottom of the dough has cooked (after adding toppings) you can move it to a cooler area of the grill to halt cooking of the bottom and to complete the melting/cooking of the toppings using the hot air in the BBQ. What a great recipe :)

Carrot Cake III

If there were 10 stars, that's what I'd rate it. Served it to foodies, and they told me, unprompted, that it was the best carrot cake they'd ever had.

Spicy Lamb Patties

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2009
Oh YUM! Utterly brilliant. Did them on the BBQ for the time specified and they were incredibly juicy. Crumbled them up with lemon juice + chopped red onion + olive oil and served in pitas with rocket and yogurt mixed with a bit of cayenne pepper and lemon juice. 5 star supper.

Great recipe- marinade left the tuna lovely and moist, and cooking times were right on.

Lemon Lush Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2008
I doubled the lemon juice and used plain yogurt instead of the sour cream- just lovely! I also made a digestive-biscuit crust instead of a pastry crust, which I think suited it far better.

Bev's Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2008
SUCH an easy recipe, but it tastes impressive enough for guests. Makes a great sticky sauce and suits chicken perfectly. Turn chicken in the sauce periodically and don't skimp on the cooking time; the chicken was nearly falling off the bones after an hour and a half. Beautiful!

Ukrainian Apple Cake (Yabluchnyk)

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2008
Oh YUM! Really lovely- the bottom cake layer reminded me of a sugar donut, and the top was really delicious. I made it in an 8" x 8" pan and had to bake it an extra 15 minutes because it was thicker, but it worked perfectly. Thanks for the great recipe :)
