Clark Gable Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
I've been using this recipe for years. It's the most delicious pancakes I've ever eaten. I add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and sometimes I leave out the sugar depending on what I feel like. I also fry them up in butter or margarine. They always come out tender and yummy! Blueberry pancakes: If you try the recipe exactly adding the lemon juice, a dash of vanilla, cinnamon AND a cup of fresh blueberries, they are out of this world. You can also add chocolate chips to them. Add a dash of cinnamon and vanilla. The baking powder amount is CORRECT! It affects the taste and texture a bit when you use less, I've tried it.

Chicken Curry I

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2008
This recipe is so delicious my family raves about it every time. I always add a cup of plain yoghurt and a tablespoon on cumin. I also use a couple of dashes more of garlic powder and salt. It's really good with flavored rice (add chicken bouillon cube with cinnamon sticks, cloves, and curry powder to water before the water boils. This recipe is definitely a keeper.

Company Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2008
The first time I tried this recipe it was for a banquet for 40 people. It got RAVE reviews. I thought it was quite delicious as well. My husband ALSO thought it was delicious. I would recommend this recipe to ANYone looking for a change for the regular potato. It's simple and easy to cook. You don't even have to peel or cut potatoes!

Haddock Au Gratin

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2008
This recipe is delicious and can be used with any type of fish except catfish. DON'T try to use this with catfish. I used this recipe with company potatoes as a side and it was a great hit at a banquet I had to cook for. 40 people gave it a big thumbs up and my family did as well. The flavors blend together just right and play over your tongue like a smooth musical breeze. If you haven't tried this recipe, YOU MUST. It's simple and delicious.

Chris' Bay Area Burger

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2008
The basic recipe was fine but I tweaked it a bit for my family's and my taste. I omitted the basil leaves and cut the salt down to 1/4 teaspoon. I added a teaspoon of soy sauce, 1/2 a teaspoon of onion powder and 1/2 a teaspoon of ground mustard. I replaced the minced garlic with garlic powder. I fried it on the George Foreman grill and melted cheddar cheese on the top. Fabulous!

Ground Beef N Rice Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2008
I tried this recipe tonight and my family loved it, including me! Start your rice before you do anything else. I didn't have any italian seasoning and I omitted the green peppers. I also added bay leaf to the rice water when I boiled it and paprika to the rice when it was done. I didn't have a lot of fat to drain off because I used ground turkey instead of beef and I cooked the beef crust in the oven while I was mixing the rice and stuff so that it wouldn't be too soft. It was REALLY easy to make and the pay off was great! I will definitely use this recipe again.

Corn Dogs

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2008
Excellent recipe! I don't even like corn dogs but I ate these and loved them! My kids and my husband liked them too. We all liked that they were crispy instead of soft like the other kinds we've had before. I took another reveiwer's advice and fried the hot dogs before I battered them. Fantastic tip! I didn't have skewer sticks so I stuck one end onto a fork, dipped it in batter (which was in a cup), then slid it into the oil using another fork. Worked well enough and it wasn't messy. Other than those two things, I followed the recipe exactly, but my batter would only cover 12 hot dogs. Next time I want to use honey instead of sugar and see what that does.

Delicious Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2008
Fabulous! I did tweak it a bit though. I put a boullion cube, bay leaf, garlic powder, and 1/2 an onion in 1/3 cup of olive oil. I sauteed them all together for a minute or two then added boneless chicken breasts. I browned the chicken then put everything in a baking dish. The seasonings got a little pasty so I put that on the bottom of the baking dish. I added a little more olive oil on the top, sprinkled on more garlic powder, then poured soy sauce over it all because I don't keep worcestershire sauce in the house. (Just don't have a use for it.) Covered and baked and it came out delicious. My kids and my husband ate it all up. :) Very easy and tasty.

Easy Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2008
I've had better cobbler. This was not sweet enough for me, however, my daughter and husband loved it. I think that IF I make it again I'll add a couple tablespoons of sugar to the peaches and use fresh peaches instead of canned.

Spiced Peach Oatmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2008
These were not as sweet as I would have liked. They are actually a bit bland and yucky. I got excited when I saw the molasses in the ingredients, but it's like a fancy bran muffin. The peaches improve the taste but I was really disappointed and sorry that I wasted my fresh peaches. I don't think I'll be using this recipe again.

Jordan Marsh Style Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2008
These are the best blueberry muffins I've ever tasted. I was especially pleased because it made EXACTLY 12 muffins. I HATE having leftover muffin batter. I made a crumb topping instead of the one in the recipe. 2 tbspns brown sugar, 2 tbspns butter, and 1/3 cup of flour mixed together till crumbly. Put on top of the muffins before you put them in the oven. My husband and I couldn't get enough of them but the kids didn't care for them. Oh well...more for us!! :)

Peach Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2008
I followed this recipe exactly except for adding a teaspoon of vanilla and I was 1/2 a cup of peaches short. I added a tablespoon of sugar to my peaches as well and it made a nice syrup. The batter was EXTREMELY thick, like a cookie dough. I thought I had done something wrong but I persevered. I added the peaches and it loosened up a little, but not that much. I was tired and ready to go to bed so I just spooned them into the muffin pan. They looked wonderful when they came out of the oven and when they had cooled down enough to eat..... WOW! They taste SOOOOOOO good! (Especially after the spiced peach oatmeal muffin fiasco. DON'T waste your fresh peaches on that!) But back to the peach muffins......It doesn't taste like a peach cobbler, to be sure. It tastes more like a cookie! Reminds me of snickerdoodles. Then when you get a bit of peach with it, it's like a party in your mouth! The only change I would make is to add a cup of peaches to the 1/2 cup I was short. My daughter wants me to add that it's so sweet it makes your taste buds go wild. This is a recipe I will definitely make again.

Very Best Blueberry Cobbler!

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
excellent recipe. I thought it was too sweet right out of the oven but the next day, it was perfect. I will be using this recipe often. Works best with fresh blueberries however, and you may want to make extra topping.

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2008
This is a wonderful recipe. I took the advice of other reviewers and added 1 tsp of garlic and chopped onions. I also upped the curry powder to 2 tsp. I melted a boullioun cube with half the butter and covered it with foil until the last 20 minutes. You do need to baste this chicken. The chicken was delicious. My family really loved it. I'll be making this again. Tip: If you make the sauce as it is, it makes a wonderful dip for fried chicken nuggets and fingers. Just tweak the mustard and honey to your taste.

Sweet Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
My kids liked it but it was too sweet for me and I didn't use as much sugar. We did 1/2 of sugar and 1/4 of honey. Next time I think I'll do 1/2 a cup of honey and stop.

Butter Beef

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2008
I've never used a crock pot before so this was my first time. I messed up a little by adding water to the pot and not adding the butter and putting 2 extra packets of onion soup. When I realized my mistake an hour later I tasted the broth. It was thin so I added the butter and some grape vinegar. I didn't want to add any salt because of the extra onion soup packets. I figured once some of the liquid evaporated, the salt would be fine. I cooked it the recommended time and cooked it on high for the last hour with the lid slightly ajar to let out more steam. I took out a cup of broth and added some cornstarch to it. Mixed it with the broth and repeate until it made a gravy with a good consistency. It came out really nice! The vinegar gave it a beautiful taste and my family loved it. I served it with flavored rice and lemon corn. I will make this again!

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2008
This was easy and delicious. I used chicken parts because that's what I had. Breasts and boneless, skinless thighs. I added grape vinegar, garlic powder and dried onion flakes to the bottom of the pot. I also added dill and parsly flakes to the seasoning. I stirred it at least three times and it took about 5 hours on high. My family loved it. The next day I shredded the chicken and threw everything into a fresh drained pot of pasta. I added a little water and mixed it all up and it was delicious as well. Great recipe.

Dad's Favorite Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2008
I took the suggestion of other reviewers and decreased the white sugar and increased the brown sugar. I also added a 1/4 cup more peanut butter. Deeeeelicous. I pushed some chocolate chips and peanut butter chips into the cookies after they came out of the oven. Even better!
