My father taught me to hunt fish and fix anything that was broken. My mother taught me to cook. The oldest secret to good cooking in my family is to "keep it basic and make it delicious". I have translated that to "do it to it, what ever it takes".
My favorite things to cook
Filet mignon wrapped in bacon with special sauce slow cooked over open hickory or apple wood campfire. Shrimp wrapped in bacon over charcoal. Pork florentine in dutch oven over hot campfire coals. Chilli. Ham bean soup. Pizza. Barbecued chicken with firemans sauce over charcoal.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Chicken barbeque at large family gathering on a beautiful summer weekend. Just plain any good ole family gathering with good home cooking.
My cooking triumphs
Filet mignon wrapped in bacon with special sauce slow cooked over hickory or apple wood campfire.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried to make biscuits I somehow used way to much liquid and the recipe said to kneed on a board if it was too thin. Hmm...it ran down my cupboard door. That was probably the hardest I ever laughed at myself.
