Pesto

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2014
Great recipe! I put it on sandwiches and pasta and it's perfect. I always roast the pine nuts prior to blending them in the food processor. Also reserve some nuts to put on top for a nice garnish. I have used pecans to make this before too, I roast them too and blend them just like the pine nuts, but I still use pine nuts to garnish. So if you're in a pinch and have some left over pecans from Thanksgiving, whip 'em in there and it's fine!

Buffalo Chicken Wing Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2014
Wow, this is spot on. I followed it exactly to the letter and it's perfect. Not too spicy for me but still enough zing for my husband on this Super Bowl Sunday!

Three-Berry Lemon Trifle

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2014
I've made this many times upon request! Once I had to use vanilla pudding because that's all I had in the house and it still was great! I've made the angel food cake from scratch but have also taken the easy route and bought a little one from the store and it saved A LOT of time! I will make this again for sure!

Red Velvet Cupcakes

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2013
I have gotten several requests to make these again at work. I made regular sized cupcakes at first but it wasn't enough, so last night I did the mini cupcakes and it made about 76 of them. The cook time was surprisingly the same. Fantastic recipe!! Thanks!!!

Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2013
I've never made carrot cake anything before so this was a first time trial. I made them into cupcakes instead of one big cake since it's easier to hand them out like that at work. Very simple recipe, almost had everything on hand to make this, did NO substitutions or variations on ingredients nor measurements. They turned out great. Being they were cupcakes, I thought the cook time would be less, and it was, but only by about 10 min. (Be advised, I have a really crappy electric oven) The toothpick in the middle was my timer. Will definitely make these again, the husband LOVED them, he's German and is used to a more dense cake than the fluffy American style. Thanks for the recipe, it's definitely going in the recipe box!!

Heavenly Angel Food Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2012
Awesome Awesome Awesome. I made this for the first time last night and tested it out on my husband and his friend. Big hit!! I made a chocolate glaze from a recipe on here and put it on the top and cut up fresh strawberries! Total hit! And it only took me 9 eggs as well!

Creamy Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2011
So easy. It makes enough if you're making a 13X9 flat cake but you will probably need more if you're doing the round stacked kind.

Pumpkin Cheesecake II

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2011
OK, WOW. I made this as a trial run to see if people liked it and if so, I would make it for Thanksgiving. I took it into work (I'm in the Army) and my Brigade Commander and Battalion Commander were the first to try it. Then everyone else dug in. Smashing success!!! The directions are so logical and the ingredients may seem like a lot, but it's SO worth it. When it finished cooking, I turned off the oven but cracked the door opened and let it cool and had no blemishes or cracks!!! It looked like something out of a magazine!! I used gingersnaps for the crust along with the pecans! BRAVO. Also, no mace here in Germany, so I used nutmeg, it didn't matter, it was WONDERFUL!!! Thank you so much for this recipe!!!!!

Black Bottom Cupcakes I

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2011
I have used this recipe for over a year now and forgot to rate it!!! Maybe I was in such a state of euphoria from how great these are and my brain wasn't working!! Love these Love these Love these!! I just made them and can never get the ratio of cupcake holders right with the amount of batter I have. Either way, I double the recipe and using standard sized cupcake pans, I was able to get 31. So if you're trying to do the standard 24, you might want to double it and enjoy the extras. Thanks a ton for this recipe!!

Simple Garlic and Basil Pesto

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2011
All I have to say is WOW. I left out the chili powder and substituted pecans for Brazil nuts and WOW. I'm sure it would be good the original way, but I only had pecans! The garlic really gave it a kick, so if you want it with more heat, up the garlic amount! The husband fired this down in minutes. Will definitely make this again soon and often!!

Crispy Baked Cereal Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2011
OK, so I did a bunch of changes as I didn't have some of the ingredients. I used turkey that was originally made for schnitzels. I put Corn Flakes in a zip lock with some shakes of: garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper. In a different bowl I threw an egg and some milk in it and whisked it. I covered the schnitzels in flour, then the egg wash and then the cereal mix. Baked at 375F for 25 min. The husband LOVED this. He said the crunch from the cereal was different but really good. Will definitely make this again.

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
Oh My God. These are awesome. I made them for my annual Blue Christmas Party and they went so fast that I had to turn the oven on half way thru the party and cook another batch!! I made the dip to go with them from the recipe I found on here and people were talking about them weeks after the party. These are so easy to make ahead of time and then bake. I will DEFINITELY make these again.

Oven-Barbecued Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2010
So simple and so tastey! The husband loved this and the pork stayed moist. I followed a tip from another review to cover for 30 min and then re-glaze them and uncover for the last 30 minutes. Perfect!!

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2010
This recipe is great! I brought it to my German In-Law's house for Thanksgiving and they loved it!! The ingredients are spot on. I couldn't stay away from it while it was cooking and kept picking at it. There was almost none left after we all had dinner. Everybody loves stuffing and this frees up the oven for extra outside the bird!

Cookie Jar Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2010
These turned out perfectly. You can vary the texture from crunch to soft simply by rolling the dough thinner or thicker respectively. Somesprinkled colored sugar before baking was enought to give them some color and character. My husband's unit ate them all at their first formation and now wants more.

Christmas Cornflake Wreath Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2010
I haven't made these since I was in grade school!! I added a little more food coloring to make them pop and they looked great! I followed some of the advice in the reviews on here and they were helpful. Pam Pam Pam. These little devils are sticky. Pam on waxed paper and on my fingers between each wreath. When all was complete I had 12 good sized wreaths so I made 2 batches for my husband's Army unit.

Savory Grilled Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2010
I used a mandolin to make the potatoes very thin and uniform. I covered them in olive oil and then added minced garlic, chives and parsley. On the grill they only took about 15 minutes at the most (turning once). Will definitely make these again!

Dill Cucumber Dip

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2010
This dip was a huge hit at my last party. I had to add a lot more dill (dried and fresh) to make it more... dilly? And also let it rest over night in the fridge. Squeezing out the water from the cucumbers was a great tip. All in all, the bowl was scraped clean.

Peanut Butter and Cream Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2010
This was amazing. My husband made it under my supervision for a party we were having and it was incredible. Just a heads-up, the term brownie in the title denotes a square cut, but it's really round. It may sound silly but when you're having a party and thinking, "finger foods for dessert, good brownies, so i don't have to serve", just realize that you have to serve it in slices. Or just weird shaped portions. Regardless, AMAZING. so simple and such simple ingredients. Too easy. If Kevin can make it flaw free, then anyone can.
