Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2014
Not bad, pretty good, but not my favorite. The vanilla pudding gave it a cake-like texture, and somewhat off flavor. I probably won't make it again, as I like a more traditional roll with almost chewy dough.

Healing Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2014
Pretty good base recipe. I am giving it a 4 because I did 'zuzzh' it up! I used homemade chicken broth, added 1 tsp. hot sauce, a 1/2 tsp. cumin, few dashes of chili powder, 1 tsp. celery seed, chopped baby carrots, handful of rice, and kidney beans for protein. After all my additions, this is an excellent soup! It's very hearty for vegetarian style, but some ground beef added would be good too!

Excellent starter... I add a bit of olive oil to make it more creamy and some diced red or orange pepper.

Easy Chicken Satay

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2012
I didn't make this chicken satay, but I did make the warm peanut sauce. It's really yummy, it does make a lot, so you could cut it in half. Our asian neighbors asked me how I made it because they loved it so much.

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2012
OMG - this is the best beans ever! My 6 year old calls them 'world famous' and loves them in his bean burritos. They are so good, I just eat them in a bowl with some cheddar over top. I will NEVER buy canned refried again!

Chicken Satay with Homemade Peanut Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2012
The sauce is amazing. But I did add a bit more to the chicken to marinate in. I added some coconut milk, grated ginger, garlic, and soy. I broiled the chicken as it was way too windy to grill. Very nice!

Southern Yank Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2011
Wow, this was outstanding!! I made this nearly to a T, just added more garlic, and a little less water. This was my first time making pulled pork, and what a hit. I HIGHLY recommend making this. Cooked on low from 8am-5pm while I was at work, it took 3 minutes to shred and done! Totally making this again and again!!

Easy Swedish Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2011
These were excellent... I used whole wheat flour for an even better flavor. And I put in the 1/2 cup of the flour, plus about 3 Tbsp more. The butter wasn't added to the batter, I put the butter in my stainless skillet (over medium heat) each time before new batter went in for another pancake. My friends from Sweden showed me how to make these a few weeks back, this recipe is pretty close to the real deal!

Napa Cabbage Noodle Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
This is a terrific salad. I didn't make this version, but I can tell you what I do a bit different with mine. Instead of canola oil, cook the noodles, seeds, and almonds in 1/4 C. salted butter. When browned, pour out onto a paper towel to cool. I also add chopped green chives. You can also use pecans instead of almonds. Love this salad!

Jennie's Heavenly Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2010
Loved this! We're adding it to our menu ideas. I didn't have chive & onion cream cheese, so I used regular. I threw it all in the crock (seperately) with 6 frozen chicken breasts. Added 1/4 cup milk too. Slow cooked for 5 hours, and the last hour, I added only 4 oz. cream cheese and a 1/2 cup sour cream. Was so tender, it just fell apart. Served over wheat egg noodles - yummy!!!

My Navy Bean Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2010
This was amazing!!! My first time making a bean soup. I barely changed the recipe. I didn't have bacon, so I put in a 1/4 C. real bacon bits. And I used salted butter to saute, but only 1/4 C. Oh and this was key, I separately simmered about 1 C. beans in the stock, and when the beans were ready, I blended the beans and added it back to the large pot, it made the soup creamier. LOVE THIS RECIPE!!!!

Whit's Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2008
I received the 'BEST I EVER HAD' reviews with this base recipe. I made a few adjustments. Cooked 5 breasts in chicken broth (not water). When I shredded those, I sauteed chopped onion and 1 C. frozen corn in 1 T. oil. Then added back the shredded chicken. Add 1 can of Rotel Mild chopped tomatos, dash of cayenne pepper, and 1/2 packet of Taco Seasoning. Let it simmer a bit, added the cream cheese and 1 C. mixed shredded cheese. And the rest is history. Topped it off with small can of Evaporated milk, then can of Enchilada sauce, cheese adn black olives. Oooh, so goooood!!!!!

White Bean Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
I give it a 4 because I thought of it more as soup, not chili. I even added some cornstarch mix to it, to thicken it up. It had good flavor though. I made some cornbread with it, but I really liked eating it with Tostitos scoops, and sour cream. Might make again, but hubby isn't sold on it.
