My First AR Round Up - Maui

I don’t know why people think you have to die to go to heaven.  You just need to hop on a plane and go to Maui.  This was my first AR Round-up experience and it was a fabulous time. It’s wonderful to finally meet friends who I have “talked” to on the Buzz but never had the opportunity to meet face to face.  There’s no awkwardness or hesitation, you hit the ground running, with plenty of hugs, conversation and laughter.  Thank you Maui Girl for putting on this fun event.  Bill and I were the last to arrive on the island, and I was delighted that everyone met up with us the next day for breakfast.   There’s nothing like a delicious breakfast on the beach with gentle sea breezes and dear AR friends.

Our official get together was Thursday night at the Papakea resort.  The fun and good food continues.  Lady Sparkle sent her hugs and well wishes and gifted us with these adorable pineapple hot mitts and wine caddy.  Thank you so much Lady Sparkle.  We wish you could have joined us!

Our last evening together was spent at Star Noodle. Sheldon Simeon, the Executive Chef of Star Noodle is a two-time James Beard semifinalist.  Food & Wine Magazine named Sheldon “Best New Chef People’s Choice” nominee in 2012.  He also came in third in Top Chef.  Needless to say the food was incredible and we enjoyed sampling each others' dishes.  You must try their famous steam pork buns - YUM.

Angelica posted beautiful pictures on the Maui Facebook page if you'd like to see more.
I look forward to another opportunity to visit a  Round Up and meet up with more of my Buzz friends.  What a great time!

AR roundups are always a great time! You had the opportunity to meet 4 ladies that have been to mine. Nothing quite like meeting in person! Glad everyone made it there and back safely. But I can't WAIT to hear Mi Being Mi's version of the roadtrip she and 2 of my very favorite people took up a certain mountain road!

I've got to make one of your Round Up's Cat Hill. I've buzzed with Sheila, Barb and Lora so many times, it was a treat to finally meet them. I think Round Ups may become addicting.

Gosh, Deb. I so enjoyed meeting and visiting with you and Bill. You are both absolute treasures! It was also my first time meeting Baking Nana and Angelica, as well my first trip to Maui! You are right - it WAS heaven on earth! Thank you, or shall I say "Mahalo" for the lovely earrings you gifted each of us - I shall treasure them just like I will treasure the great memories of our Maui meet-up!!

Deb, year #5 will be here in the first part of June. 'Fraid MO is nothing like Maui but the food is pretty good and the company always excellent. Plus, I NEVER know who is coming, gammaray & maui girl for example :)

Well if you're going to go to a round-up, why not make it in Hawaii? So glad you all had a wonderful time. I sure wish we could have come along also. Maybe next time our life won't be so complicated. I'll have to check out the FB page.
Oct. 30, 2013 11:34 am
I guess I should say in Maui...not Hawaii, but it is all the same to me way over here in FL.

I'm new to all recipes and trying to figure out how you made your twist cookies look so nice ( obviously this does not pertain to this blog post) . I can't figure out how to message you privately or I would have!

About Me
I love to bake and am always searching for that great recipe which explains my addiction to Allrecipes. I was delighted to be chosen as an Allrecipes Allstar Brand Ambassador (a voluntary position), and meet talented home cooks from across the country and AR’s fabulous staff at their Seattle headquarters. I had a blast! My other passion is gardening and during the growing season you’ll find me in my garden with my Cape Cod weeder and a glass of wine. --- Couldn't have said it better myself: "I have never believed we had to choose between either a clean and safe environment or a growing economy. Protecting the health and safety of all Americans doesn’t have to come at the expense of our economy’s bottom line. And creating thriving companies and new jobs doesn’t have to come at the expense of the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, or the natural landscape in which we live. We can, and indeed must, have both." ~ Bill Clinton
My favorite things to cook
I love fresh baked bread, but who doesn't?
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family and friends would have a conniption if I didn't make the "Creme Brulee French Toast" on this website for Christmas brunch.
My cooking triumphs
I attended a fabulous week long Tuscan cooking class in Siena, Italy. The food was incredible, the people warm and wonderful, and the city is magical. Although we arrived in Italy after the race, we were fortunate to witness some of pageantry of the Palio di Siena which was extraordinary. It was tough to leave, and I lugged a heavy clay cooking pot through the airports coming home. When we got home, my husband delighted me by reproducing a pastry board we used in Tuscany which is one of my greatest toys. I enjoyed Tuscany so much; I named my cat Siena.
My cooking tragedies
The list is endless.
