Like all things in life-- you get out what you put in. A good cake has the proper ingredients with the proper proportions; this has both.
Technique has something to do with it as well, however, and anyone having problems with this cake should try using only butter (as I did), and sifting the dry ingredients together, and then sifting them into the *thoroughly* creamed butter/sugar mixture with patience. The cake comes out wonderfully moist and delicious. No reason I'm not going to keep this recipe as a cake base for future baking.
