Emily's Famous Marshmallows

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2010
Worked out perfectly. But you have the instructions backwards. Fluff the egg whites. Then dissolve the gelatin. Then make the syrup.

Crispy Shrimp Tempura

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2010
This was so GOOD! I lived in Malaysia for many years, and this tastes exactly like how they would make it in local Japanese restaurants. But maybe what I like so much about it is about how easy it is to make, AND cheap. I bought shrimp on sale a couple weeks ago and its been sitting in my freezer with nothing to do. The ingredients were all on hand it it just turned out puffy, golden and crispy! Beautiful! Thank you!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2010
OMG! This is some GOOD bread! My grandmother couldn't make a better tasting bread! I didn't change the amount of sugar and it tasted PERFECTLY! I will never buy store bought bread again! One problem is that there really wasn't enough dough for 2 loaves of bread. I just made one big loaf and it worked out perfectly. Kneading was quite important, as bits and pieces began falling off the already baked bread. I would be careful next time to keep the bread together in one piece.

Crispy Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
Good Lord, this is the best fried chicken recipie I've tried! Thanks for the tips in the recipe. They made all the difference. I brined the chicken before hand and it was just so juciy and tender. The only issue is that I didn't have any butter milk. But I mixed one cup of milk and 1 tablespoon vinegar and let it sit for 10 minutes. Its a good substitute. I like my chicken extra crispy, so I dipped the chicken in the "buttermilk" and the flour mixture once, and then dipped it back in the milk, and then back in the flour one more time. It was perfect! Thank you!

Sweet Spicy Wings

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
The flavor was exellent but the sauce itself was rather gooey and gummy. I don't think I would simmer it for 10 min... I would heat it just until it got warm and then just leave it alone. otherwise, it was very good.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2010
Awesome! I loved it. Not really "Sticky," good all the same. I have to be careful actually, after adding the sauce I have to turn the heat WAY down to keep the sauce from burning. Otherwise the flavor was good!

Mock Filets

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2009
First of all, My husband really liked this. He said that you could not tell the difference between these mock fillets and and the real thing just by looking at them. Very nice presentation, very cute. Second, they tasted good. The bacon really set it off and gave it a nice smokey flavor. But, they are just personal portioned meatloaves. Don't get me wrong, they were great! It was easy cleanup and we didn't have a whole pan of meatloaf into a Tupperware container. Plus, we didn't have to portion them out of leftovers the next day! Thirdly, nothing complicated. We had all the ingredients off hand. I didn't have to go to the store and buy something special for this recipe. BUT while broiling, I would monitor their done-ness half way through the process. I believe that if I hadn't been watching them, they would have burned. This recipe was good and I will definitely make it again. But I am giving it four stars because it really is just like meatloaf. I will replace meatloaf night with "Mock Fillet" night because it is just easier to make than my usual meatloaf routine and it makes meatloaf night fun! Thank you!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2009
I don't see what all the fuss is about. My husband and I made these cookies for a party and followed the recipe to a "T" but the finished product was so completely bland! It needs a lot more sugar for my taste. My father liked it because he doesn't like things that are too sweet. Also, I chilled the dough in the freezer between cutouts but every 5 minutes I would have to put it right back in the freezer because the dough was just too sticky to work with. Besides my parents, we couldn't give the rest of the cookies away. No one else liked them and we currently have at least 20 cookies shoved in the back of the freezer that we have no idea what to do with. The only reason why I gave it 2 stars is because my father was the only one who liked them. Otherwise, a complete disaster.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2009
I was going to buy a box of chocolate covered strawberries from a website for V-day... but $36 was WAY too much for just 6 strawberries. Using this recipe, I made 24 berries, and 12 chocolate covered grapes for just under $5! They were just as good as store bought! My husband thinks that I spent all day making them, but I only about 20 minutes on the whole project! And clean up was sooooo easy! For a little added flair, I put the berries and grapes together in Valentines Day themed cupcake foils, SO CUTE! Thank you for saving me money and making me look clever!

Gingered Pork Chops in Orange Juice

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2008
This was very good. I made it for myself and my husband and we loved it! The only change I would make was adding some extra salt and ginger. The orange juice can be a tad bit overpowering, so I wouldn't use as much. But over all a very good recipe.
