I've been married and expiermenting recipes on my husband for about 10 years now! I also have 2 children, and one on the way (April 2005).
My favorite things to cook
I am good at deserts! I also love stir-frys. One of my families favorites is my chicken cutlets...and they are so easy to do!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Around Christmas time, we get together and make "Pietengues"..not sure of the spelling. It's so fun to all work together on a project, each of us with our "duties!" We make a TON of rosettes!!
My cooking triumphs
The fact that my husband is still alive...and actually claims that I am a terrific cook!!
My cooking tragedies
hehee....when I was about 11, I tried to make a jelly roll. We were all done with the dough from the "peitengues" (see above) and had a little left over. I tried adding jelly to the dough and baking it, but it came out so bad! Not at all what I had in mind!

Overnight Apple Cinnamon French Toast
This was the 1st French Toast casserole recipe I have tried that didn't come out soggy. I scaled the recipe down to 7.5 servings. The kids wouldn't touch it, but they are extremely fussy. Husband thought it was good. I thought it was a bit sweet. I did use half and half instead of milk as others have suggested. I did make a mess flipping it though!!

Rita's Sweet Holiday Baked Ham
This was my 2nd attempt at making a ham dinner. (The 1st try, I won't even discuss!) If I had only found this recipe sooner! This was so moist. (And wonderful presentation too!) I didn't change a thing, other than the size of the ham. I used an 8lb semi bone-in ham. I still left the cook time for 2 hours though. Some reviews stated that it didn't taste as sweet as they expected. I used a smoked ham, and quite enjoy the flavor of the ham itself. I was glad that this didn't over power that taste of the smoked ham, it kept it moist while cooking. I did serve the juice as an "Au juice" as suggested, and it was wonderful as well. I will use this recipe every time I have to prepare a ham! Thank you!!

Chicken Broccoli Ca - Unieng's Style
This is very tasty and easy to make! Exactly what a busy mom needs! The only change to the ingredients I did was I used light soy sauce, because that is all I have. I didn't get much of a sauce at the end of the cooking time. I think this can be fixed by cooking the chicken on high for only 5 minutes in order to sear it, then reducing it to med-high for the rest of the cook time. I had cooked it on high for the full 10 minutes per the recipe. I noticed that some reviews stated that there was too much pepper. I did not reduce the amount of pepper at all, but I had combined the sugar, water and pepper in a bowl first. A lot of the pepper stuck to the sides of the bowl, so maybe that's why I didn't think there was too much! This recipe is a definate keeper! I will make this again and again!
