Garlic Brussels Sprouts with Crispy Bacon

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2013
Well, I've made this recipe a few times now and we love Brussels sprouts! I can't believe I'd never had them before and now we've been eating them a few times a month. This recipe made the request list for Christmas dinner in a few days. That should tell you how good they were :)

Craig's Cocktail Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2013
I made this in a pinch, had to sub cider vinegar for lemon, soy for steak sauce and this was perfect! My sis-in-law & I tasted it, said, "it tastes like cocktail sauce" and that was that. Absolutely perfect taste and took a whole two minutes to make (including getting the stuff outta the pantry). Loving it! Thanks for making me look good :)

Ciabatta

This came out so great!! I made it all by hand (thanks for the how-tos y'all) and shaped it into a round loaf. Yummy, yummy and super easy :) My family was duly impressed.

French Herb Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2013
I've begun a new "hand made" bread phase in my life...this is a good, simple recipe. I didn't use the herb filling but I'm sure that will be fantastic next time I make this. I appreciate everyone's notes about making this by hand--my bread machine is packed up (somewhere!) after moving. I proofed and cooked this in a round 2 qt pyrex bowl and it was an awesome go with for spaghetti. Thanks for the recipe!

Beef Chimichangas

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2013
We liked this one a lot :) Definitely use FLOUR tortillas, as chimis are not made with corn tortillas. Anyway, this was very easy and I appreciated the baking over frying because, well, I was lazy today and didn't want to stand over the stove in 90 deg weather! We need 1-1/2 lbs of ground beef to feed us, so I just ended up using the whole pkg of taco seasoning and I only had fresh jalapenos which we like better than canned. Thanks for the recipe!

Sausage and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2013
I've made this a few times now and the whole family loves it--all three generations! I brown the sausage in a skillet not a grill but it works out the same. I added bacon fat to the sauerkraut last time and cooked this in the slow cooker. Awesome! Next time, I'm thinking about using some apple cider for more liquid in the cooker.

Simple Salisbury Steaks

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2013
YUMMY!! I had never even thought of making Salisbury Steak until we had the frozen dinner type. My husband said, "Hey, I bet you could make this better." Little does he know, all of YOU make these recipes better before I even look them up! :) I adjusted the recipe to feed 7 and the "steaks" came out pretty big in size and flavor. Loved this with mashed taters and extra gravy--thank you!

Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2013
This came out very tender and very tasty. Whole family liked it...even the kiddo! Half way thru cooking, I added carrots and potatoes and made it a complete one pot meal. Will probably try it with breasts next time and serve with rice. Thanks for the recipe :)

Cheesecake Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2013
I changed this up a bit, sort of combining two recipes: what came out was a Lemon Bar Cheesecake, which I plan to submit as a new recipe. Any who...the layers separate excellently and with more lemon juice, the flavor was perfect! I cut the sugar almost in half and used fresh lemon juice and a little bit of rind in the lemon layer. Since I cooked this in a springform pan, I served slices with fresh blueberries on top. YUMMY! Perfect for summer :)

Graham Moist Lemon Bars

Reviewed: May 16, 2013
These bars got rave reviews from the family and they were very tasty...especially when they were still warm (I couldn't wait!). They seemed a bit mushy, even when cooled, but the taste more than made up for that :)

Cheesecake Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2013
Wow! You just cannot beat this recipe for time, ease or taste! I love (semi) homemade baking recipes and this is one of my go-to faves. I've made them a few times now using different brands & types of mixes and they are wonderful EVERY time. Today I added mini choc chips to the brownie batter and, again, got rave reviews. Thanx for the recipe :)

Detroit Hot Honey Wings

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2011
Wow! I give these a 5+++++!! What a hit at the 4th of July party we attended! These came out so good that I actually ate three of them. I never eat wings, cuz they always taste too "vinagery" for me, but these are the answer to that dilimma. We seasoned the wings with red/black pepper, garlic and powder and salt and let them sit overnight in the fridge. My husband cooked them at 400 degrees for about 25 minutes, basting with honey after about 10 minutes. We tossed in the sauce mixture, rolled the wings around and served them up (they were all gone in under 5 minutes). I'm sending this recipe to four people today and printing a copy for my brother-in-law. ''This is an AWESOME recipe@!!!

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: May 23, 2011
Wow! I've never made a pork loin that turned out so perfect! (not even my own posted recipe for tenderloin!) I made a few adjustments, based on preference/what I had on hand: reduced sugar to 2T, 1T red wine vinegar + 2T balsamic vinegar, chile sauce instead of ketchup and hot sauce (used 4 pkts from the local Chinese restaurant!), minced garlic (from a jar). I put the roast on top of a Vidalia onion, added 2 celery stalks cut in thirds, and spread the garlic all over the top of the roast. I cooked for 3 hrs on high, did a check with the thermometer (160 deg), turned it down to low for about 3/4 hr (170 deg), turned it off and then let it rest in the pot with the lid off while finishing up everything else. Served with garlic mashed potatoes, steamed carrots and Texas Toast--my husband and guests commented that this was probably better than any pork they've ever had in a restaurant. Yeah!! Even the picky 7-yr-old said it tasted good! Thanks for the recipe :D

Slow Cooker Teriyaki Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: May 16, 2011
I am soooo glad that so many of you you have enjoyed this recipe! It makes me laugh, though, every time someone "discovers" that it's better cooked on low--that's how I submitted the recipe :) I'm not sure what happened in translation. I just read a review where the cook used a pork shoulder roast--I'm gonna have to try that less-expensive version, 'cuz Lord knows I can't buy tenderloin all of the time! Thanks to you all for trying, saving & reviewing my recipe...I have enjoyed sharing your reviews with my husband, who always asks, "Why can't you just make plain 'ole meat?" Ha! Where's the fun in that???

Carne Asada Marinade

Reviewed: May 6, 2011
I was searching for a recipe to use the "flap meat" that I purchased. No luck, I guess it might be a cut that's indigenous to SoCal (San Diego), but man! did this marinade do the perfect work, with just a few alterations, as suggested. I used a combo of fresh lime & orange juice, minced garlic (from a jar!), cumin and hot mexican chili powder. The flap steak is a very thin cut used especially for carne asada and it came out so tender I could hardly believe it! I marinaded for about 2-1/2 hrs and we grilled it for about 5 min per side. After cooking, I sliced it into strips and served with flour tortillas, refried beans, sliced avocado and sauteed onions & jalapenos. Yummy yum yum!

Chocolate Fudge Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2011
These came out very nicely for our church bake sale. I'm so glad they weren't as sweet as I thought they might be. I used chocolate frosting and added more peanut butter than called for (I still could've used more PB and will next time). Thanks for the awesome new way to make "brownies".

Chicken and Dumplings III

Reviewed: May 8, 2010
This was incredibly easy to make--love it!! The whole family enjoyed this, even the 6-yr-old who tried to say the dumplings were "soggy" but he still ate them all!

Chicken Salad with Toasted Almonds

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2009
We really liked this, using red grapes & apples instead of water chestnuts. I also kicked up the flavor/seasoning value by using home-made ranch dressing instead of the mayo/miracle whip, but decreased the amount by 1/2. I served this with lettuce leaves on top, not in the mix. Used french rolls that I lightly toasted with butter & garlic. Yummy!

Heather's Cilantro, Black Bean, and Corn Salsa

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
VERY good! This recipe made me the hit of the bbq party :) I thought this was going to make way too much, but it was gone in a flash! We ate it with tortilla chips, but I know it would be excellent with fish or chicken, or even just as a side dish.

Jamaican Jerked Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2009
This turned out very delish!! I doubled the recipe and swapped out red onion for green (it's what I had). I only got to marinade this for about 1 hr so after removing from marinade, I sprinkled Pampered Chef Jamaican Jerk Rub on each piece just prior to grilling. The flavor was great and this was very easy, too! I will be making this often this summer :)
