Fresh Cherry Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2009
I should have suspected it wouldn't be good when I melted the butter in the dish.....way too much butter! The edges were extremely tough from so much sugar in the batter and from being "deep-fried" in the butter. Also the edges tasted very salty from the butter. I like the idea of the recipe but don''t know how it could be fixed. I agree with other reviewers that the dough was very pastey, almost gooey even though it was fully cooked.

Heather's Cilantro, Black Bean, and Corn Salsa

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2009
Delicious recipe, but be warned it makes a LOT! I think we ended up with about 8 cups of salsa....and at our party of 35 people only 1 cup was eaten. We did eat some the next day just as a side dish. Fresh taste, beautiful colors, looked great on the food table.

Brie and Walnut Tartlets

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2009
I'm giving this a 5 even though I changed it a bit. I think the changes I made were not big enough to affect the final outcome, and I can never stick to a recipe! I used frozen tart shells instead of the other pastry because I was unable to find the pepperidge farm stuff. I used herbed brie and left the rind on. After cooking I topped with half of a red grape. I served these at a large party and had MANY requests for the recipe. It was a hit!

Spanakopita II

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2009
These were terrific. I made a half batch but kept the cheese the same amount. They took a long time to roll out, it was my first time working with phyllo, and I was thinking that they weren't worth the time...until I ate one! I will definitley make them again.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2009
Fabulous easy recipe, great for a quick dinner. Kids enjoyed it too. I did make a couple changes...omitted onions (personal preference) and added carrots and corn. I also made it with rice milk because of allergies and it was a little thinner than I wanted but I just mashed up some of the potatoes and that thickened the soup. This will be a family favorite that I will make often.

KELLOGG'S* RICE KRISPIES* Curry Chicken Bites

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2009
The instructions didn't say to crush the Rice Krispies, but it seemed strange to have small pieces of chicken coated in what would be pretty big chunks with the Rice Krispies. I chose to crush mine and added the spices to the dry mix. The flavor was great! They weren't as crispy as I would have liked, but that could be from me crushing them so I am going to rate these a 5, because we still really enjoyed them. Nice change for chicken fingers or nuggets. I also made a mayo/mustard/curry dip for dipping. Kids loved them too!

Classic Stuffed Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
Great recipe! At first I thought mushrooms in stuffing was weird but they were a nice addition. I used a package of poultry herbs that was fresh. Fantastic flavor! Stuffing disappeared very quickly.

Deep Fried Dill Pickles

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2008
I'm not one for giving bad reviews, but this one did not impress us. We really didn't like the cornmeal in the batter, the cornmeal was like sand in the batter, just little hard crunchy pieces. I did not use the hot sauce, and used chili powder in place of cayenne, and honestly couldn't taste the seasonings at all. I think with the seasonings being in the egg/milk mix that very little of the seasonings attaches to the pickle. We were trying to re-create a recipe from a restaurant and this was not it. We will keep looking.

Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2008
I DID IT! My first ever pie crust and everyone said this was the one to try. Fantastic, tender and flaky. Will be making lots of pies now...no more frozen store bought crusts for me. Thanks for a great no-fail recipe.

Quick and Easy Yorkshire Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2008
Amazingly yummy! My dad says they are just as good or better than his moms :) Because of a dairy allergy I use rice milk in these and you can't tell at all. These have a place in my permanent cookbook, and I will be giving my own kids this recipe when they move out!
