About this Cook
Recently made the decision to stop eating all meat and poultry, as well as any kind of processed food, currently undergoing a mass cull of my recipe box! Feeling so much better for it, and found new excitement in cooking again. Looking for good quality vegetarian recipes and wholesome healthy dessert recipes - really good ones are few and far between - in the throws of creating my own blog for this reason.
My favorite things to cook
Since moving to Canada I love experimenting with the crock pot - I'd never used one in England. On a mission to find really good vegetarian recipes that can be slow cooked whilst at work.

Beef Sirloin Tip Roast
You know how to make this really awesome and more flavourful is to substitute half the first cup of water for red wine, use fresh sliced mushrooms instead of the can and sprinkle the roast with a little low sodium montreal steak spice before adding everything else. I cooked mine for just 2 hours - it was perfect - delicious sauce - I will always cook sirloin tip this way now - thanks for the inspiration.

Dutch Apple Pie
I picked this recipe to use up some apples and because I had all the other ingredients to hand. It was different, not really for me I am afraid I wouldn't make it again. I didn't like the oats in the case and found the filling made it quite soggy. It's not really what I would call a Dutch Apple pie, which almost always has raisins in. It was more like an upside down apple crisp.

Mushroom Stuffing
This was quite nice, although I think it could have done with a bit more punch to it, perhaps a bit more onion than the recipe called for and some sage as we found it slightly bland. I also think it would have worked better with cubed bread rather than finer breadcrumbs.
