Sweet and Sour Chicken III

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2010
I did as other reviewers suggested, but it ended up being very tasteless to me.

Pork Roast with Sauerkraut and Kielbasa

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2010
I followed the recipe, and added half a bottle of beer, as some others suggested. While the roast was indeed tender, we found the overall taste to be bland. The cooking method seemed to drain the kielbasa of taste too, and there was so much sauerkraut left over.

Corn Casserole III

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2010
A really excellent recipe. Mine calls for an egg, and can cook up to 50 minutes. It's great for reheating, as putting it in the oven a second night gives it a great toasty texture on top, sort of like a muffin. The kids love it, too!

Corn, Sausage and Pepper Chowder

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2010
I made this as written, with turkey kielbasa. It was really salty (my fault), but I guess I just don't like the sausage in soup genre. I would have liked it very much with no kielbasa at all, but I needed to rate this truthfully so I remember not to make it again!

Peppery Shrimp and Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
Great taste, very easy. I added uncooked shrimp for the last few minutes to avoid overcooking them. Definitely hit the spot tonight!

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2009
This is my husband's favorite recipe that I've made. I've tried a version with ricotta, and prefer this sour cream version.

Mexican Bean and Rice Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2009
I used chickpeas instead of kidney beans just because I don't like them. It came out great!

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2009
Delicious. I honestly think that you could leave off the cheese and bacon and still have a really delicious chicken. I never would have combined teryaki and ranch, but it works! I also just cooked the chicken in the oven, without browning it first, and it took about 45 minutes.

Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2009
I wanted to make something different, but I was a little nervous my kids wouldn't eat it. Turns out my husband and 5yr son loved it, and my 3yr daughter liked it enough to eat most of her portion. I'll definitely use it again. I use a can of diced tomatoes instead of salsa, and eat tortilla chips on the side, rather than baking them in.

Birthday Bones

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
I give it 5 stars for having few ingredients and being quick and easy. I used canned pumpking in place of the peanut butter, knowing that my sister's dogs like pumpkin. I admit I didn't want to use my expensive stuff for dogs. The pumpking worked nicely, but I had to make drop cookies because the dough was very sticky from the pumpkin. I made small drop cookies and baked them for 15 minutes. They came out great!

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
I skipped the icing and added chocolate chips. Fantastic! I also added 1/2 tsp. ginger, just because I love all those spices in my pumpkin pie.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2008
Having made this twice now, I can say really like it...with a few adjustments. I tried the onion gravy mix in it, and didn't like it as much as when I just used a little chicken broth with the cream of celery. I also added carrots since my kids won't eat potatoes. I didn't bother browning the chicken first, just cut the breasts in half and put them on the bottom of the crock pot and layered the veggies over it, pouring the soup, etc. (plus a little cayenne) over all. A very nice chunky stew!

Pepperoni Stuffed Zucchini

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2008
I know you can't rate a recipe if you change it alot, but I made this with turkey kielbasa chopped small, and it was really great! Even my two and four-year olds liked it.
