GA Peach Pound Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2011
Oh my! Loved this! I make pound cakes all the time and I am constantly searching for new and delicious recipes. This recipe is a keeper! I only had 2 fresh peaches, which was shy of the 2 cups it calls for, and the cake still had a wonderful peachy taste. This cake tasted like peach cobbler! Yum! I ate it plain, but it would also be wonderful with whipped cream on top. What a wonderful dessert! I didn't change a thing, such as baking time, as other reviewers suggested. Follow the recipe as-is. You might have to bake it a little longer, though. I think the recipe is also a good base to experiment with other fruits, but the peach is sure hard to top!

Billman's Clam Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
I was hoping this was going to be wonderful, but I was disappointed. The end result was entirely too salty! I had to check to see if I followed the recipe correctly. And I'm a person who enjoys salt! Im glad that I tried it, but I wont be making it again.

Sweet Potato Enchiladas

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2010
These were surprisingly good! Im not a huge sweet potato fan, but had extra potatoes from Thanksgiving left over, so I decided to try something new. Im glad I did! This dish was so easy and tasted great! I had to alter it a bit because of what I had in my fridge. I used 1 oz. of cream cheese and a package of garlic and herb boursin cheese. Yum! I experimented with flour and corn tortillas, which were both good. The corn tasted more authentic though. The only cheese I had in the fridge was cheddar/american, and it tasted fine on top. Overall, these enchiladas did not even taste like sweet potatoes! They tasted authentic and very tasty! It is definitely worth trying this recipe.

Orange Loaf

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2010
I've made this bread many times and I think it is super. I always follow the recipe exactly with no complaints as it is written. I think the glaze is supposed to be thin. I pour the hot glaze over the hot loaf and just let it sit in the pan. Eventually the glaze absorbs into the cake, leaving a moist, delicious bread. Im happy with it!!

Asian Coconut Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2010
If I was rating this rice alone, I would give it three stars. It was good, but unlike any rice I have ever had. I know this sounds weird, but it tasted a little like popcorn. I followed the directions and it cooked perfectly, which I liked. I paired this rice with Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken from this site and it was wonderful! I felt like I was eating truly authentic food. I will be pairing the rice with the chicken again most definitely! Although different, this rice is worth a try.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2010
After reading other reviews, I cut up the chicken, dredged it in flour, and browned it in a dutch oven. I took the chicken out before it was completely cooked and prepared the sauce in the same pan, which I doubled. After it thickened slightly, I put the chicken back in and simmered it until the chicken was cooked through. I used siracha hot sauce and it was pretty spicy! I also served it over Asian Coconut Rice from this site, and I felt like I was eating authentic ethnic food. It was a great pairing!! I will definitely make this again.

Waikiki Meatballs

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2010
Great! I used one poud of ground turkey, added fresh garlic and pepper to the mixture and baked them at 350 for 20 minutes. The sauce was very sweet so I ended up adding quite a bit more soy sauce then the recipe calls for. I also combined all the sauce ingredients in one pot and stirred until thickened. The meatballs were moist, the sauce tangy. It was a wonderful and EASY meal that is now added to my rotation.

Ravioli Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2010
This wasn't spectacular. It was easy, which I liked. After reading the reviews, I doctored it up by adding parsley and garlic powder to the ricotta mixture. The dish didn't bake as stated. When I took it out of the oven, it was still cold in the middle. So I had to put it back in and it ended up taking over an hour to bake. It was an easy weeknight dish that I am happy I tried, but probably will not make it again.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2010
This recipe is beyond amazing! It far surpasses 5 stars!!!! This is the first time I have made bread and it turned out PERFECT! I followed the recipe exactly and I didn't think it was too sweet. I also used regular all purpose flour. The bread rose sky high and when it came out, I rubbed butter over the top. Beautiful and delicous! This recipe is a definite KEEPER!!! Okay, so I waited a day and made another batch, but this time I made cinnamon rolls out of it. TO DIE FOR!!! They were the best cinnamon rolls I have ever had! They were so light and fluffy and melted in my mouth. Everyone should use this recipe to make cinnamon rolls!!!!! I want to shout to the rooftops how wonderful this bread recipe is!

Asian Lettuce Wraps

Really good. I added water chestnuts to give it some crunch and didn't use tofu. I don't think the rice is necessary so next time I'll probably omit it. Super easy, too!

Cop Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2010
Super! I halved the recipe and it was plenty. It tasted like a peachy doughnut! I think there is a mistake on the recipe. If you follow the glaze recipe as written, it never gets to spreading consistency. You have to add milk to thin it out. But this recipe was unbelievably delicious and I can't wait to make it for my next potluck!

Fruit Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2010
Yum! Honestly, I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was due to its simplicity. I used apples and tossed them in apple butter because I thought they needed a little moisture. I also sprinkled some brown sugar over the top before putting it into the oven. We had it hot out of the oven and wished for some vanilla ice cream to top it with! Even without ice cream, I was impressed. I will be making this again!

Egg Drop Soup (Better than Restaurant Quality!)

Yum! Good soup. I tripled the recipe and it made enough for two big bowls. I went easy on the white pepper; just added it to my taste. But it was definitely easy. I will be making this again.

Garlic Aioli

I could eat this stuff with a spoon! It was so good! I didnt change the recipe at all, except I did use bottled lemon juice. I served it over salmon burgers. The aioli absolutely made the sandwich!!

Quick Egg Roll Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2010
Good, but not great. This sauce tastes more like dipping sauce for pot stickers. If I ever made pot stickers, then I would definitely make this sauce to go with it, but I prefer a less tangy sauce for my eggrolls.

Authentic Chinese Egg Rolls (from a Chinese person)

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2010
AMAZING! These egg rolls were to die for! I didnt have pork, so I cooked ground turkey and added some teriyaki sauce to sweeten it up. I was impressed how good it was. I also added fresh mushrooms that I chopped up. This is the first time I have ever made homemade egg rolls and I will never try another recipe. This is it! They are very easy to make, they just require a bit of prep time. DELICIOUS!!!

Homemade Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: May 10, 2010
Wow is all I can say! Absolutely wonderful. I have never made tortillas before and I will continue to make these forever. They were perfect. I used crisco instead of lard. They were pliable and extremely easy to roll out. I hope it wasn't beginners luck. You must try these if you want to impress guests!!

Hot Dog Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2010
This was pretty good. It needed something else, maybe cheese. I used frozen spinach, as well as fresh spinach that I sauteed with fresh mushrooms. The taste was very light and fresh, maybe because of all the veggies in it. The flavors were not very prominent. I thought it needed to be a bit creamier. It was good. It is worth trying once, but I dont think Ill make it again.

Chicken Wellington Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2010
I would give this 5 stars, but I doctored it up quite a bit. I sauteed the chicken in butter until cooked and sliced it into strips. Then I sauteed an entire container of mushrooms with shallots and garlic. I added a bit of chicken broth to the mushroom mixture and let that cook down. Instead of plain cream cheese, I used one small container of chive and onion cream cheese. I also put three stips of cooked bacon in the cream cheese mixture. I unfolded garlic flavored crescent rolls and put the slices of chicken with the cream cheese on top and brought the edges up to the middle, like purses. I cooked until golden brown and they were absolutely delicious! I am already looking forward to making them again. I served it with sauteed brussel sprouts. They are good enough for company. Absolutely excellent!!!
