Just your average guy from Montana. I've done a lot of traveling, all over the world, and I've eaten some strange things in stranger places. Eating everything from harðfiskur in Iceland to hundred-year eggs in China has given me an immense appreciation for good old fashioned American cuisine.
My favorite things to cook
Anything savory. I'm not a big fan of sweets or baking, although I'll eat them if they're offered... maybe someday I'll branch out and move away from the frying pan. I love grilling, as well, both indoors and out, and am always hunting for new marinades and bastes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Blackeyed peas and pork chops... one of Mom's specialties, and one of my favorites growing up (and it still is). Very much a comfort food, but damn tasty as well.
My cooking triumphs
Anytime it turns out edible, it's a triumph. There HAVE been a few that didn't.
My cooking tragedies
Making a cream sauce, and got a little carried away with the corn starch... didn't let it cook long enough to begin with, and had a thin, watery, powdery sauce to start. Put it back on the heat to thicken, and got distracted... after boiling for a few minutes, I had a nice glue.
