About this Cook
It's 2013 and I find it time to update my profile. Am on my way to 50 this year and its a changing year for me. I found this site in 2008 and it helped me through so many personal avenues in my life, the food, advice and friendships that have been made from a cooking site. So that said, I am back in the kitchen, life has been crazy but the kitchen is my place of stress release. So bring it on AR, I am looking more towards the healthy side of cooking too, but will sneak a few over the top calorie recipes along the way. My life has took a turn that is so incredible you can not even imagine.
My favorite things to cook
I love making soups and breakfast right now. My son loves the new Wild Rice soup we just tried on AR. I am a baker too, and cheesecake is one of my favorites to make. Making bread, biscuits and cookies though, take away my stress and being able to share makes me feel good, in spreading my love with others.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I remember making caramels with my grandma. I still make caramels at Christmas but I have a simpler recipe and its all in patience and slow cooking. The flavor is amazing. I remember Sunday dinners at grandmas, we would make homemade ice cream, does anyone remember the old crank makers. My family used to pull taffy also, we don't do that anymore, but it was fun. I would like to make some new traditions.
My cooking triumphs
When I try something new and follow to a "T" and the flavors come together so nicely. I am a happy camper. I worked hard on learning what makes a great cheesecake.... ok conquered the bread/yeast thing.. woo hoo!! thanks to my AR Yeast Foodies..
My cooking tragedies
Chicken salad, I can not make it, tried and tried. I still go the great deli here to get it. :( Update 2013, still suck at chicken salad...LOL!!

Meatball Nirvana
I have been wanting meatballs, so today was the day! These are great and can be used for any sauce. I did not have any hot sauce, but they had the perfect heat for me with the crushed pepper. I used Tastefully Simples Italian Garlic spice in place of the Italian spices, because it was what I had. I put them directly in to my sauce which is spicy too!

Cheeseburger Soup I
This was so quick and easy and flavorful! I will make it again, but change it up and add some heat or bacon.

Turkey Wild Rice Soup II
I lost my wild rice soup recipe and this very close! Love it. I did add less turkey only 1 cup. The flavors are great! I did not have trouble adding the flour, you have to just keep whisking and not on high heat. I also used a little less rice I had cooked the whole 4oz box and just added as I thought was right. Thank you so much the one I had added diced ham and chicken. I will try that next time with your recipe too. Comfort food on a cold day!
