About this Cook
I am a 40 something mom of a growing teenage boy. So that said, you know that I am cooking. He is a good taste tester and loves to cook also. I started cooking at a very young age. When I am not cooking or baking, you can find me playing board games with my son or surfing the internet. I am a karoke nut. I love to dance and go out to dinner with friends. I love football, we are huge Colts fans. So we love preparing the snack food for the big events. It may just be the two of us, but we go all out on our treats. I love a cold beer with wings or pizza. I am looking for the perfect margaritta recipe to serve with my mexican meal.
My favorite things to cook
I like making chilli and mexican food. I am into trying new types of dishes and techniques. I am trying more chinese dishes and loving the outcome. I am a baker at heart, it relieves stress for me.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I remember making caramels with my grandma. I still make caramels at Christmas but I have a simpler recipe and its all in patience and slow cooking. The flavor is amazing. I remember Sunday dinners at grandmas, we would make homemade ice cream, does anyone remember the old crank makers. My family used to pull taffy also, we don't do that anymore, but it was fun. I would like to make some new traditions. My son and I prepared our first Thanksgiving dinner last year for just the two of us. This will probably be a new tradition for us also.
My cooking triumphs
When I try something new and follow to a "T" and the flavors come together so nicely. I am a happy camper. I worked hard on learning what makes a great cheesecake.... ok conquered the bread/yeast thing.. woo hoo!! thanks to my AR Yeast Foodies..
My cooking tragedies
Chicken salad, I can not make it, tried and tried. I still go the great deli here to get it. :(

Strawberry and Feta Salad II
I needed a salad for church dinner. I almost had everything for this one. I used spring mix/spinach, instead of dried crandberries, used dried blueberries, used diced granny smith instead of dried apples and slivered almonds..had light raspberry vinagrette..it was a hit!! Thanks so much! will make again... may try pecans...

Baked Potato Skins
Excellent! I left out the paprika, just a personal preference. I always "bake" potato in the oven, its best.
