I love frosted cookies, and have spent the better part of the last 15 years searching for the perfect recipe. Friends, my search is over. I cut the flour down to 3 cups, baked them for 10 minutes exactly (in which time they did not brown AT ALL... in fact my mom saw them cooling and thought they hadn't even been cooked yet!), and they came out PERFECT. Soft and chewy and flavorful. One batch made about 48 cookies as the recipe suggests, but the cutters I used are pretty small.... maybe 1.5 x 2.5". For bigger cookies you may want to double the recipe.
