Quinoa Black Bean Burgers

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2013
These were great! I love versatile recipes! I also added fresh parsley to the mix, there were other things I added but honestly don’t remember. I’ve made the recipe as is too – just great. I decided to try out my George Forman grill that my mother had given to me a year ago and grilled some mushrooms, peppers and red onion to add to the burger. The patties I fried in olive oil and butter. The burger was great and the patties are so delicious I always end up eating one fresh out of the pan while cooking the rest. Cheers, thanks for the recipe

Crab Canapes

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2012
I made of bunch of appetizers for a party at my mother’s house. This appetizer was included in my repertoire, and while I did not much care for them I still gave them a 5 star due to the response of other people. They were a hit. I used phylo pastry sheets and did them in the triangle shape. I don’t imagine my review will be much help to anybody as I don’t really have much to say otherwise, sorry. I will keep this in my recipe box since other did seem to enjoy them.

Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2011
wow wonderful flavour. followed the recipe exect. would not change a thing. I did use hot italian sausage and boy did that take the soup on a whole new level! *** I would like to add to my original review. This soup really is FANTASTIC! It is the perfect fall/winter soup for those cold damp days when the fire is lit. (well if you live in southern Ontario that is). I once made this when we were snowed in, all the neighbors came over on their ATV’s and after plowing us out had a bowl. Which they raved about …come to think of it the Cognac may also have helped … It freezes well and if you like spice use a hot sausage, other than that don’t change a thing. Thanks for the great winter warm up! ***

Southwestern Egg Rolls

Reviewed: May 3, 2011
I didn't get the chance to try these at all, I made them for my mother for a party she was hosting, I used egg roll wraps and froze. She told me she fried them prior to the party and put them in the oven to warm them up once guests arrived. They were so enjoyed I got asked for the recipe by about half of the guests. As I didn't get a chance to try them I don't know if I should add anything like cilantro or extra garlic.. I will be making again today following the recipe as is (well aside from using egg roll wraps) since they went over so well the first time.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
Wow, what a great recipe! I melted the butter in the microwave, added the sugar and butter to my Kitchen aid mixer, mixed, then added the other ingredients as suggested. Baked in a spring form pan for 30 minutes at 375. Perfect!! I served with homemade split pea and ham soup made from leftovers. I will use this recipe again and again. It would also make a really good toping for chicken potpie if you didn’t want to use the traditional pie curst top. I love recipes that can be tweaked, you can add cheese or jalapeno pepper, cut back the sugar, however it’s a great recipe as is. The only problem is that I can eat the whole loaf, and I love it with butter spread on top, Thank goodness for good metabolism. Thanks for the recipe!

Puppy Chow

Very good, the kids in the neighbourhood love this. I was going to only add four cups of cereal as suggested by other viewers however it looked a little too chocolatey so I ended up making the recipe as is. I used the microwave for 30 seconds, stirred the mixture of chips and peanut butter, then 60 seconds more. Stirred in cereal. Placed the mixture on a foil lined cookie sheet (I was out of wax paper) spread the icing sugar on top and mixed on the cookie sheet. Very easy, enjoyed by all. Thanks for the recipe.
