Pan Fried Swiss Chard

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2008
This was simple and delicious. I added onions and extra virgin olive oil, but the bacon & garlic are the key flavor enhancers. Yum!

The Easiest Chocolate Pudding Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
This recipe is in a book by Emilie Barnes, and in it, the recipe is entitled Emilie's Triple Chocolate Cake. I tweaked it by using the large 5 oz package of pudding. It makes the cake twice as moist, brownielike, and delectable. I also omit the chocolate chips and cool the cake, then drizzle melted chocolate chips, followed by melted white chocolate chips. Gives it a really easy but classy appearance!

Sister Schubert's® Chicken Pot Pie with Bread Topping

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2010
Great recipe! We're snowed in, so I had to make do with what was on hand, but it still turned out delish! I used fresh mushrooms instead of canned, fat free half & half instead of cream, stone ground mustard instead of Dijon, and a 16 oz bag of frozen peas & carrots. Used my bread machine to make bread dough and dotted that evenly over the top. A deluxe homemade pot pie without the labor intense pie crust!

Mom's Smoked Oyster Stuffing

Absolutely DELUXE! Easy, all the ingredients were already in my pantry, and my family loved it! A 5-star rating as-is. Thank you!

Beef Pho

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
Best recipe for pho I've ever tried. I omit the daikon, but this broth is Excellent! TIP for slicing the beef: Put it in the freezer until it's partially frozen (or thaw it until it's still partly frozen). This allows you to slice it very thinly because it's firmer and sturdier.

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2011
I mixed in the garnishes AND allowed some to add in even after that. There's no such thing as too much cheese, right?! This was super easy, deluxe, and perfect for a cold, winter day.

Mom's Yeast Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
I've made these four times now, and twice I've halved the recipe so I could make the dough in my bread machine. Like other reviewers, I had to add more flour, but it was just a matter of eyeballing it to see if it was the right consistency. I've received compliments every single time, and they've turned out to be great tasting and of medium density and texture, so this one's a keeper!

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
I've made cinnamon rolls for years, and my family went nuts for these on Christmas morning! I'm not a big fan of cinnamon rolls, but even I like them. They're flaky, full of flavor, and worth the time and effort. Guess I'll be making THESE from now on! =)

Honey Barbecue Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2011
My college son raved about this new recipe he'd found, and after trying it when we got home from visiting him, we were delighted to find it something we'd make again and again! All the ingredients are things I keep on hand, and it's just so simple. Only changes I made were adding only half the pineapple juice & subbing water for the rest since we don't like such a sweet pineapple flavor. Definitely something we'll add to our regular repertoire.

Banana Cake VI

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2011
This cake is DELISH! Like other reviewers, my experience was that after baking for one hour, it wasn't anywhere near done. In fact, I baked it for 20 more minutes, but by then I was pressed for time with company due to arrive. I upped the temp to 350, and ten minutes later, it was finally done. It went from Not Yet to Done like *that.* I always add some vinegar to regular milk instead of making a special purchase of buttermilk. This cake has GREAT flavor and was a winner at our dinner party!

Tartar Sauce I

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2011
I can't stand store-bought tartar sauce and had NO idea that making my own could be so quick & easy! I make my own sweet relish, so it was fun to be able to use that to make yet another homemade condiment for my family. GREAT recipe! Thank you so much!

Peppy's Pita Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2009
This recipe is terrific! We spent some time in Israel and fell in love with falafel, and this pita bread is just like the fresh stuff we had there--nothing like it in the store. I followed the recipe exactly, and it was great!

Italian Dressing Mix

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2011
This is not only the tastiest homemade Italian dressing mix, but it's the easiest thing I've ever made--with ingredients that are all common staples! It's great not only as a dressing, but as a marinade and a rub. I add just a wee bit to different sauces to enliven them--it's my secret ingredient!

Maple Walnut Scones

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2011
These are fabulous if you love a light, sweet maple flavor! I didn't have half-and-half, so I added 1 Tbl of sour cream to two percent milk to make the 1/4 cup. Turned out perfectly. My family LOVES these!

Fluffy Biscuits

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2010
Using half butter flavor shortening and half butter, these are the best and flakiest homemade biscuits we've ever had! My teenage daughter had friends over, and they gobbled them up! I follow the directions as-is, except that I roll them half as thick to begin with, then fold the dough over in half, and roll again lightly to compress. This makes them hold together, but creates a natural split when they're ready to be eaten. They're deluxe topped with butter and honey or with sausage gravy ladled over the top of split biscuits. This recipe works perfectly well with spelt flour as well. This one's a keeper!

Home-Style Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2010
After reading the reviews, I added way less milk and just eyeballed the consistency of the sauce so that the liquid from the potatoes would be factored in by the end of cooking time. Added chicken bouillon and seasoned salt for flavor, but those are the only things I adjusted. Great recipe, esp for someone whose scalloped potatoes have turned out badly different every time--until now!

Pumpkin Muffins II

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2010
Mine turned out a REALLY thick batter. I only held back on the sugar and oil by a little in order to reduce the calories, so I was shocked at how thick the batter was. Turned out fine though. Sprinkled turbinado sugar just before baking, and they were so pretty!

This is the first time in my entire life that I've EVER liked sweet potatoes! This was delicious even before I baked it! I added pure vanilla extract like one reviewer suggested, and it was deLISH! This is the easiest and tastiest sweet potato dish I've ever tried. Thank you!

D' Best Chicken N' Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
Guess as a Northerner I'm more accustomed to a light, fluffy dumpling. This one is firm, substantial, almost chewy. The flavor is wonderful, but for anyone looking for an airy, pillowy dumpling, this isn't it.
