Princess of Quite a Lot of Kitchen
About this Cook
I'm half-Filipino and grew up tasting all kinds of flavors, so I did the same for my own family. We do global fare--almost every cuisine type is worth a try. I have a huge sweet tooth though, so desserts are my favorite thing to make.
My favorite things to cook
Chicken Mandarin; Baked BBQ Pork Ribs; Chocolate Chip Cookies; Emilie's Triple Chocolate Fudge Cake; Caramels; Strawberry Onion Salad; A-Z Muffins;
My favorite family cooking traditions
On Christmas morning, I hide a tiny plastic Baby Jesus in foil and tuck it into one cinnamon roll. Whoever gets that one gets to put the real figurine in the manger.
My cooking triumphs
Took quite a few years, but I can finally get Thanksgiving and Christmas meals so that everything's ready at the same time!
My cooking tragedies
Macaroni and cheese with canned corn beef and mustard! Eeeeeyuck!!! The recipe was from the back of the mac-n-cheese box, and we think they didn't bother to try it. Or else it was a cruel joke. =)

Ukrainian Red Borscht Soup
My grandma was a native of the Ukraine, and this is the borscht that she made, minus the sugar and parsley. I suppose it's like anywhere else in the world where there are differing versions of the same dish according to the region and the chef. It was plenty close though, so this recipe is a keeper.

Maple Salmon
Loved the sweet and savory mix. Made the marinade just as directed, but ended up adding butter because the salmon we have tends to be a little dry. That made it perfect, and I will definitely make this again. I try to eat Paleo, and this was a great addition to my recipe repertoire!

Beef Taco Skillet
This is a great recipe! It's really quick and super tasty with some taco seasoning. Frying the tortillas gives it a little character.
