About this Cook
southern cook at heart. I never really realized how special my family's cooking was untill I went to college and began eating frozen dinners! Although I know how to cook, I find little pleasure in cooking for myself, its the expressions of others that truly makes me happy. This is also why I always serve the food I make at the Catering service! I am also no low calorie cook, I enjoy eating my fat, it makes me feel good :0)
My favorite things to cook
Desserts, Cheesecake, pound cake, Ice cream, and all those lovelys Meals, lasagna, mashed potatos, papa Dave's baked beans...mmm! I encourage everyone to stop and go back to the simple basics such as a grilled cheese sandwich every now and then. you'll be amazed at the taste of a PB&J if you havent had one in a while
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our only true tradition is sunday dinners with family from great grandma to the great grand children Southern food!!! we also own a catering service called Almost Home Catering
My cooking triumphs
Cheesecakes and wedding cakes were really the first triumphs of my cooking career. After that I began experimenting and discovered the wonders of cooking, I'm still fighting with spices, i'm a picky eater but I figure one day i'll turn around.
My cooking tragedies
In catering you must multitask. At this one black tie event job it seemed everything was going wrong, the sausage balls were burning, the cakes were falling, and goodness forbit we expect the meringue stay fluffy. we somehow pulled it all off after some quick re-cooking, scrapping, and wishful thinking. besides the chocolate fountain splashing down my snow white top we somehow survived the evening, including a rather nice tip. We all have those days sometimes, its just best to laugh, put on a smile, and go on with life.

No Bake Cookies VII
Delicious and super simple! I refrigerated mine for 2 hours and then rolled a few them in hot cocoa powder and a few in powdered sugar. less sticky mess, more yum

Creamy Hot Cocoa
I made enough for just little old me and it was delicious! It is a bit on the sweet side as some other viewers noted, but i loved it!! I used evaporated milk as I did not have half/half but it is still a 5 star recipe in my eyes! Bravo!
